Nasty, dingy, overpriced and terrible service. How this place got 4 star reviews beats me. The place is a dump literally. There’s no menu nor food so you just look at the bottles on the shelves and the names on tap to order. Cash payments only and you’re served in plastic cups. Bartender is quick but loud and obnoxious and doesn’t care to ask whether you’d like something else. Restroom had no toilet paper! The only nice thing was the ceiling art resembling the Sistine chapel
Very comfortable not a lot of places to sit but the atmosphere is amazing. The bartenders are very nice and attentive even when it's packed. And surprisingly the bouncers that be in there are very friendly too just the overall nice establishment to go to to have a couple drinks and watch the game or just chill and hang out.
It’s not a night out, but a religious experience. Welcome to The Dirt Church, Mecca of all dive bars, ambience and vibes that you cannot buy or cultivate in a hurry. Singlehandedly keeping the last Golden Tee Machine Alive. Home to such famous patrons as “Baltimore lean” “hey I’m gonna need to run a tab” and people that don’t ask for their pour to be heavy bc it just is. CASH ONLY and don’t you want it that way? not a place for credit cards to be whipped out for many reasons. Bar manager and bartender Chloe is a life story of tattoos, jokes, and roasts if you dare to cross her. Drinks have been invented and consumed in this place that you will never see the likes of anywhere else. If at any point in your evening you need a sign, or doubt your higher purpose or existence, just look up and see God. Prices are too reasonable for the amount of people watching and whimsy you will download. Expect to make some lifelong friends as long as they accept you be cool but without trying. It’s not fancy but it is sophisticated in its way; the height of dive bar culture lives here and I urge you to take part in its mystique before the neighborhood Americana ritual of sitting on a stool drinking alcohol and getting your problems off your chest without a corporate logo up charging you disappears forever. Baltimore, Maryland --- The "Mount Royal Tavern" is a unique neighborhood bar, complete with unique bar flair, a unique selection on a DVD juke box & unique bar characters that all know each other. The ceiling was painted like the Cystine Chapel by a patron in return for a lifetime bar tab. Ironically, this artist stopped drinking 2 months after completion. Parking can be a real challenge in the evening hours. The bartenders are as one-of-a-kind, as is this bar. If you like the dive-bar atmosphere, this is a "Run-A-Way Bill" recommended experience. Cool atmosphere but too many people smoke in here and I have severe asthma. I had to leave before my drink came over
It's an interesting place with interesting artwork on the walls. It's nothing fancy, it's a pub. Sometimes, it smells funny ‍The bartenders are awesome and the drinks are strong and inexpensive. That's all that matters. I'll be back again and again and again...
Terrible service. Overcharged me for drinks and when I confronted him he lied about the charge. And claimed that I never paid when he received $11 from me and $9 from a friend of mine Nick. When I asked the bartender why did he take money from me and my friend. Then the bartender black told the bouncer to put me out because I said he stole my $11. Then the bartender claimed that my friend said that he didn't see me pay. REALLY... Nick was not at the bar when I paid. No social distance in the run down bar. Very dirty establishment. I was afraid to use my credit card there so I used cash. $11 for Nick/I drinks then the bartender said that I owed Nick for his drink - $5. So I paid $16 for juice. The worst experience I have ever had in a bar. So in short. STAY AWAY. GO to the liquor store and go home.
Nasty, dank, dated, & dark. Insulting to ladies with interior designs & regulars conversations. My friend had to move up and down the bar twice to get the attention of the only bartender. Fruit flies everywhere, the tables and chairs look like someone spent their lives at a junkyard. Drinks are incredibly strong, I am surprised my friend and I didn't get drunk or alcoholic poisoning. The place idea of a dive bar only makes me want to vomit. Board of Health should shut them down and never again allow them to reopen.
Mallory was amazing. Sometimes being in a new watering hole can be intimidating, but this place was different. Very welcoming and hospitable. We were celebrating a special occasion and Mallory gave us her special house shots......Im in love!!!
