Very bad experience. We reserved a non-smoking room, but when we entered the room, there is a very strong smell of cigarettes. That smell was so strong it made my son's head hurt and it made me cough. So we call the reception and ask them to change another room for us. However, they said they did not have other rooms available. They did not offer any help. Then we asked for some air freshener, but the receptionist said they do not have any. After a while, they called back telling us they found one in their washroom but we need to return it to them right after we used it. The air freshener covered the smell for just a few minutes. After that, the room becomes smelly again. We were forced to stay in that room that night, all of us did not have a good night sleep. I kept coughing that night because of the smell. When we check out, the receptionist said we can ask for a 50% discount from trip.com, and they will let trip.com know the situation when they call. We had to complain for another 10 minutes before they told us we can ask Trip.com for a full refund. Trip.com called them and the motel did not have a record of our complaint. Therefore, trip.com refused to refund us for our unpleasant experience. This motel is not reliable and the service is terrible.
If I could give 0 star, I would. But I guess it deserves at least 1 star for the friendly staff. The rooms are decent, but my room was not cleaned properly. I found a woman's hair that is three times as long as mine and a different color on my bed, so I know the room wasn't cleaned properly. They also do not provide any soap or shampoo outside of the weird hand soap dispenser that looks like it came from a public washroom.nnThe soundproofing is also really bad. I heard lots of fun noises during the night nnThe best thing about this place is the location. There's lots of food, stores, and a SAQ nearby. Also, it is very transit accessible, if you want to take the metro downtown.nnOverall, would I recommend this place if you want to avoid the price gouging of downtown hotels? No. I would say find somewhere else to stay.
I had to stay 1 night in the NewStar motel and didn't regret it!nnThe motel room was nice, very clean, and very cozy! The room looked modern, the bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was clean and spacious. The soap/ shampoonwere provided. It was also nice to find a coffee maker in the room with coffee/tea pods provided.nnThe staff was friendly, and check-in/check out was fast!
I stayed for one night. The next day, when I tried to get my shower, I did not shower!?!? The shower pipe was broken behind the wall, and the water ran behind the wall!!! Also, on the bath, a blood-stained, this place is unsafe and unsanitary. The plumbing guy jumped and started working to fix the issue when I started complaining at reception. Shame on management and Booking.com for recommendation. I didn't receive a 50% discount on my CC, as per the management conversation of my complaints. Shame, shame, shame!!!
Good motel for a short time. You can park your car before your door.nWe found the condom package on the shelf in the closet.nThe bed was comfortable but smaller than the queen size.
