I had a terrible stay at The Monte Carlo Inn in Barrie, ON. We booked this hotel for our basketball team while participating in a weekend tournament, and the experience was unacceptable from start to finish.nnUpon arrival, the check-in process was extremely slow, and the front desk staff showed no urgency despite the long line of guests waiting. Once we finally received our keys, we were informed that the elevator was out of service—a major inconvenience, especially for families with luggage and mobility issues. The staff offered no assistance or solutions.nnThings only got worse. After returning from our game, we found out that the hotel had no power or heat due to a storm in the area. One of the main reasons we booked this hotel was for the pool, which was now unavailable for use - a huge disappointment for our kids who had been looking forward to swimming all day. When we asked for a common area where our team could gather, we were told to pull chairs from our rooms into the hallway—a completely impractical and inconsiderate suggestion for both our group and other guests.nnWe also later discovered that another guest had been video recording our 12-year-old boys as they quietly played a card game in the hallway, allegedly to report them to the front desk. When we brought this serious concern to the staff, their response was completely dismissive.nnBy checkout, there was no apology, no compensation, and no accountability from the hotel. Despite the lack of power, heat, amenities, and an underwhelming breakfast, we were still charged full price.nnWhen I called today to speak with management about our experience, my concerns were completely disregarded and was told that there was nothing they could do about matters regarding the weather. I was also told that they would look into our concerns regarding the kids being videotaped by another guest and get back to me today, in which they failed to do. There was no effort to resolve the issues or even acknowledge how poorly the situation was handled.nnThis was an awful experience, and I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. Poor service, lack of concern for guests, and an overall failure to provide even the basics of hospitality. Avoid this place at all costs!!!
The moment we walked in I was disappointed, the rug in the lobby is dirty and curled, saw many people trip on it and not 1 employee said anything. Over the 3 days we were there the stairways were filthy, never cleaned. Oh and the elevator doesn't work. People had to carry all their luggage up flights of stairs. No help from staff. In our room sheets and blankets were on the chair not on the bed. Not 1 roll of toilet paper in the bathroom. Our room was never cleaned nor the bed made our entire stay. I will never stay here again
Awful awful awful!!! We checked in and immediately knew it wasn’t going to be good. Stale cigarette smoke lingers in the halls, rooms and elevators. Stains on the duvets, top sheets and pillow cases. We went down to complain and they switched our room. Second room was worse than the first. More stains on the sheets, sticky substance on the desk and dresser. FOOD LEFT IN THE FRIDGE. Man down the hall was yelling at what seemed to be a prostitute. Totally unacceptable. Manager was rude beyond belief, no sympathy. And no refund. We were charged a full nights stay even though we left. I wouldn’t recommend any one to stay here, 0/10. Best Western Plus next door is the way to go.
Price for the room was very reasonable. Easy check in and check out. Friendly staff. The room was very clean and the bed comfortable. Electric fireplace and Jacuzzi tub a nice touch. Hot breakfast available for a reasonable price. Location of the hotel was centrally located to all of the places we were going to.
Homeless walking inside of the property, carpets in the lobby way and room smells like cannabis and cigarettesnnThe staff is nice but not what I was expecting for what is claimed as a 3-star hotel. Would not recommend unless those issues are addressed
