Story

Monck is a school of approximately 700 JK to Grade 8 students located centrally in the Town of Bracebridge, Ontario. Monck is situated in the district of Muskoka well known for its lakes, rivers and beautiful outdoors.

Major renovations were completed in 2008 for a new addition consisting of 10 rooms. This new addition also contains a new computer lab. Previous renovations were completed in 1991. Our school now encompasses 75,000 square feet.

Monck has 31 classrooms. It is the wheelchair accessile school for the Bracebridge area.

Our French Immersion program which began in 1988, has now grown to over 350 students. The FI program begins at the Senior Kindergarten grade level and enrols children from the Severn Bridge, Gravenhurst, Rosseau, Port Carling, Bala and Vankougnet areas.

Monck is a great school for many reasons. There is a great music program and lots of intramural sports teams offered for students to try out. There are lots of different extracurricular activities for everyone. There are opportunities for students to get a good breakfast at Breakfast Club in the mornings. There is a 'Healthy Lunch Program' if desired, this includes some snacks and lunches from various resturants(does cost money). There is pizza and milk for sale as well. The school might seem a bit intimidating at first because of its size but it is a very friendly environment. The quality of education is great and there is a large French Immersion program if you wish to enroll in it. The school has students from JK to grade eight. I was a student of Monck from JK to grade 8 and it was the best 10 years d my life!

Top notch everything. Clean, bustling school. I have dropped off kids hundred of times and never not had a student hold the door for me when the opportunity arose. Whatever they are doing they are doing it right.

Awesome public school with a great French Immersion program and music program. It's a big school too, which made the transition to high school at BMLSS much less scary.
