Absolutely delicious food, served quick and hot from very friendly folks. We got the pork with mofongo double-fried plantains and a chicken empanada. Everything was great, especially the chimichurri topped roasted pork. Get some, it's fantastic.Food: 5/5
While on a road trip catching up with friends, we decided to have dinner here. I noticed a line in front of this stall at the food hall in Parkville Market. The business also seemed to be doing well with lots of online orders coming through. After contemplating ordering a little bit of everything, I asked the people ahead of me what they recommended and ordered: -Pernil Shredded Pork Mofongo, which is the restaurant’s most popular mofongo made with slow roasted pork and comes with mayo-ketchup and salsa. My group and I at one of the seating areas on the second level of the space. I’m not sure if the food was meant to be eaten at room temperature but it was unexpected. It also leaned more bland and dry. Definitely not the best I’ve had but it was around 7:30 PM on a weekday so the business was probably going to either start cleaning up soon or mise en place anything that needed refilling for the night/following day. I’m sure when the food is ready earlier in the day, the flavors and textures would be great.
Very solid option. The empanadas are solid and the mofungo and rice bowls are very good. The Overload is expensive but a great way to try all the meats. My one knock is that my mofungo had a few meats that were not very hot. Overall, I'd recommend the steak, chicken, or pulled pork rice bowls.
I eat a lot of Puerto rican food including home made. Check my reviews. This is by far the most inauthentic Puerto Rican food I ever had. The seasoning of the rice and pernil was so off. It felt as though it as seasoned by a Caucasian person is a pressure cooker. The beef empanada season was horrible. Would not recommend. Place is disrespectful to the Puerto rican cuisine. Staff was friendly. Portion size was average.
The food was fresh and amazing pork and yellow rice beans great taste. I also try pork and Mofongo fresh great flavor.
Loved the vegetable mofongo however it felt little dry may be the sauce can be given on side.
Horrible customer service. After i ordered, the young lady who looks about 20-24 years old took 5 other orders after me and they all got their food before me. She walked away from the stand and came back moving slow. Until her boss came and she decided to move faster. Yet still got my order wrong. Waited 25 minutes for my food when her boss did it for me in 2 minutes.
I normally go the the Windsor location but service they keep messing up I took my self to the Hartford location because I didn’t want to give up on a hidden gem just yet. I was wrong for even making an attempt. I placed a phone order and order two steak bowls one with yellow rice and the other with white rice. I was advised that they ran out of yellow rice for the night and so I ordered another white race ball and I was advised it will be 20 minutes. Wait arrive shortly after 20 minutes and waited 10 minutes in line to pay and still had to wait an extra 10 minutes For my food, and I noticed that there was yellow rice, so when my food was ready, I advised the girl that she told me that there was no yellow rice, and she told me at the time of my order there was no yellow rice for 40 minutes later after waiting there was yellow rice so I asked her since that’s what I originally ordered and he didn’t give me the option. Can’t he switch my food out for yellow rice she told me no And that I need to pay for extra rice, but why should I have to pay for something that I ordered originally and I was told that that was not offered and instead of hers just saying that the rice will be a moment to finish cooking. They automatically gave me what they had. The girl then proceeded to catch an attitude and was very unpleasant, never in my life. I felt so disrespected and so disgusted with the restaurant chain especially since I continue to keep supporting with all the best service that they have been giving I will rate the food an 8 but the service of the restaurant I will write that a 2 for poor quality and not caring for all customers.
Mofongo will always be my favorite Hispanic restaurant in Hartford. This really brings me back to my Puerto Rican roots. I always get Arroz con gondules fried chicken with mango habanero sauce, 3 platano maldodos, and mayo ketchup, on the side. Food is amazing! The restaurant has good music, and there customer service is amazing
The best Mofongo that I’ve ever had and all the meats including the pork are great. The empanadas are super cheesy and all the ingredients in all the dishes are super authentic. If you like added sauces, be careful, they go heavy on them, so you could get them on the side if you want.
