If you new in Toronto , travelling, or new arrived, just visit, have your big and delicious meal here. It is super close to Union station. On google map, the place is not right, you need to walk one more street and go down under the building. You will see the food cord. Super kind staff they have by far. Explained all food, offered me nice mix of food, and had a perfect one. There is plenty place to sit, bathroom and many other restaurants as well.
Run-of-the-mill Chinese food, just shy of being average. If you've ever been to Szechuan or any of the other chain restaurants that offer Chinese cuisine, that's basically what you're getting here. I got chicken/rice/noodles/veggies85% onions, eww and it didn't taste great. The rice stood out the most, reminded me of how my Haitian father prepared it when I was young. 3 Stars because of the nostalgic rice, otherwise 2. Edible but not worth the price tag 10 bucks. Save your money, there's much better out there.
Affordable Chinese meals available near St. Andrew station. Both the Szechuan chicken and spicy fish with fried rice tasted delicious. Although the egg noodles for the beef brisket noodles were slightly under cooked, the brisket was juicy and delicious with their light broth.
This place is my go to if I did not bring lunch on weekdays. Tasty food. Vegetarians, tell the guy over there that you are vegetarian...he will take care of your order inspite of crowd he has got to order next. Food is awesome for a cheaper price. This place accepts only cash. By evening, closing time, they offer $5 boxes of their awesome food. Once I went around 4.40 PM told the guy we were hungry that's why we came in to check if any boxes are there, he prepared noodles fresh for us post their work hours. They are so kind and inspiring.
By far the best Chinese takeout place downtown Toronto - if you do not go there before noon, you will end up in a long queue of people hungry for some real authentic Chinese food. Two lunch items with white or fried rice are priced at $8.85, or $11.30 with HST, unless you order something exotic like roasted duck, which is a dollar more. My two selections today were Hainan Chicken and Taiwanese Marinated Minced Pork. They were so yummy; Modern Wok never disappoints!
For a Chinese fast food fix and low price .. this is the place I go to all the time. Every day around lunch time, there is a long line up so it goes to show how popular this place is. they have a menu on display you can order from but if you want something more customized... they do make it for you on the spot. I know this isn't some fancy place but I give it 5 stars for good value and this place makes for a quick working lunch.
This place offers a large amount of food for a good price. The food is typically pretty good for a fast food counter. With that said their customer service is ABYSMAL. The menu does not explain what they are offering which as I now understand consists of choosing a tray and picking the number of items that you want. The workers get annoyed at you one grunted audibly at me for asking them to explain what is not well explained. The owner should go over and take a look at Eat Canteen and you might learn a thing about a more understandable menu. Add on top of this that they gave me a 2 rupee coin in place of a quarter in my change just as an added bonus.
This is a place to get the best bang for your buck. Being located in the Financial District it's unexpected. Love their Laksa, Singapore noodles and other dishes. They do not skimp on their servings. They offer either green tea or water on the house I personally do not know of any other fast food place in a food court that has this option.
Best bang for the buck Chinese food in the downtown core. I always try to make my way here because they have great selection and the food actually tastes good! Beware of long lineups starting around 11:45!
Chinese comfort food in the middle of financial district for reasonable prices. Be prepared for long lineups around noon. If you speak Chinese you can likely order a lot more customizable dishes not listed on the boards. Cash only.
