I've been getting more and more frustrated with this store as time goes on. When they took over Safeway there was a noticable increase in prices for most things but not enough to drive me away. I was excited because they were going to do away with pricing gimmicks and memberships cards. As a household with just 2 of us, I found this to be a refreshing change.
When they opened this is what the owner said: "Also gone are the complex pricing schemes that Safeway used, Holtet explained. “Our pricing will be more simple,” he said. “No more ‘buy five and get two’ sort of thing. If you are one person or five people you get the same price. We want to get rid of confusion. We are trying to make it fair for everybody, so a family with a Suburban and five people isn’t the one getting the better deal over a single person.”
That would've been nice but, as anyone who shops there knows, this is not the case. You have to be extra vigilant with regard to their pricing and sales. Many times the price is only valid if you buy a certain quantity (be sure to read the fine print). Family packs are sold at reduced pricing. Pricing games are the norm. In fact, I find the pricing gimmicks to be every bit as bad as Safeway except things are now more expensive too.
Now that they have done away with self-checkout I find this store hardly worth even going to. I often run in to get just a few items and now am waiting in painfully long lines. At this point I try to do as much of my shopping as I can elsewhere. I really just wish Safeway was back.
That said, most of the employees are very nice but, overall, this store is a disappointment.

I appreciate the very nice waiting room. Would be nice if people waiting in line to drop off prescriptions could wait on the chairs in there. I know that would probably require some remodeling.

If this place was supposed to be full of friendly, local faces, apparently HR missed the friendly part of the memo. Starting with the rude clerk, Rebecca in your gas station. Based on her rude and non-customer oriented behavior, I opted not to go into the store based on if she is reflective on who Fresh Market hires, I imagine the people in the store are not much better at being customer oriented than she was.
When this was a Safeway, fuel employees were much nicer same with store employees. Just goes to show just because it is a local store does not mean they strive to provide good service. Some cookie cutter corporate stores instill a much better sense of providing good customer service than this "local" company ever will.

What will cost you a dollar anywhere else will cost you $2.50 here. Seriously cannot believe how overpriced you are. I will never be back to this store. Albertsons and Orange Street Food Farm have way better prices.

Just watched that disgusting video on Facebook, racism at its finest, the employee is a poor excuse for a human being, shame on him for treating Native Americans in such a matter. Banned for one year????? For what? Being Native American? I applaud the customers for dealing with the issue without incident. Miigwetch from Ontario Canada
