Just popped by Sunshine Mkt to grab dinner stuff. Ran into a friend from high school more than 25 years ago…ouch!. She was a little amped up because she had just been denied service at Mission Merchants Liquor Store because her 15 year old son was with her and helping carry stuff. They demanded she show proof that he was 19. Are you freaking kidding me? It’s a hot Sunday afternoon, a mom pops out to grab a few things and some adult bevies to toast the end of a great sunny weekend. And this is how she is treated? Seriously folks! If you love policy and rules this much then go get a government job!!! It gets better…I offered to simply go in and grab the things she needed. When I walked in they denied serving me as well under the auspices of “they know where this purchase is going!”. Hello people…stop the tyranny and now let’s cue Voltaire for the poignant quote of the day…”Common sense Is not so common” . In the end we both took our business to Creekside liquor. Always friendly and inviting. That’ll be our future trend…voting with our feet!

While it may be great for other forms of alcohol, they advertise themselves as a liquor store and have an abysmal selection of beer.
