We are over the moon for the newly renovated Misery Loves Co, bringing back inside and patio dining along with a marketplace. Took my daughter there for lunch. She had the kids chicken tenders and fries and I had the Fly By a fried chicken sandwich with their house made chips. The chicken was perfectly seasoned, light and flavorful. Went well with the Arnold Palmer on a hot day. My kid ate her meal and was delighted. Looking forward to trying more dishes.
Ive heard nothing but good things since i got to Burlington and have wanted to get here. When i saw they had a roast beef sandwich special i knew i needed to try it. Naturally i biked from uvm in a snowstorm to get it. Was it worth it? Well the sandwich was fantastic, it had a great tangy flavor from the horseradish cream and arugula salad, not to mention it came on a excellent crusty baguette. That being said, it felt a little lacking in the meat department. The flavor/texture of the roast beef was lost in the bread and arugula. A 21$ sandwich should NEVER have that problem... This sandwich is close to greatness- just not all the way there.
SO disappointed. This is the most money I have ever paid for fried chicken in my life -- and I've lived in very expensive cities and frequented plenty of pricey spots. $68 for a whole fried chicken is exorbitant. But I would have been okay paying that much money -- I mean, after all, I paid in advance sadly -- if it had been at least decent fried chicken. Our meal wasn't ready when we came at the appropriate pick-up time, and that apparently was because they were leaving it in the fryer for an extra 20 minutes or so in order to burn it through and dry out the meat entirely. I assumed, of course, that we had a decent take-out meal, and didn't check on the state of it before we drove an hour home. Imagine my surprise to look see this As per the accompanying pictures, be forewarned before you pay SIXTY EIGHT dollars for a burnt, dry fried chicken. They should never have put that in a bucket to serve to paying customers. For SHAME, Misery Loves Company. You certainly lived up to your name by providing us with quite an inordinately miserable meal tonight.
This place is SO CUTE! They have a ton of little gifts and household goods like cards, stoneware dishes and a good selection of foods to buy, both pre-made and grocery items. The food is also AMAZING, the aioli is to die for, I could just eat it plain with a spoon its so good! Great atmosphere, fast and friendly service. Will definitely come again!
The food and drinks were fantastic, however the wait between the time we were seated to the time we were served was over an hour. I understand the kitchen staff may have been busy, but maybe it's time to hire more folks? 5 stars for quality, and attentiveness, but 1 star lost for food prep time.
What a delightful place! Our experience at Misery was fantastic - a cozy setting, wonderful folks all around, and a fascinating variety of eclectic gourmet dishes. Everything we tried was perfect, truly a journey of the palate. Their Steak Tartare, Pheasant, and Pavlova are outstanding. Highly recommended!
Absolutely the BEST food we've had in a very long time. Misery is a definite MUST place to visit. The food was excellent and so delicious. We sat overlooking the chefs preparing the dishes and it was a truly unique experience. The menu changes everyday as all meals ingredients are from local farmers farm to table and everything we tried was very flavorful and so mouth watering. The staff were really wonderful and engaging and ensured we were comfortable. It was a true culinary experience.
We had a wonderful experience with our meal for eight people celebrating my daughter’s graduation from UVM. The service was impeccable as was the food. We had the fish, fried chicken and vegetarian lasagna. The suggested wine was a perfect accompaniment to the fish. The in season asparagus and fresh baked bread were fabulous. We highly suggest dining here if you are in the area.
First trip back home to Burlington with my new girlfriend. There's opportunity to have one meal lunch. Where do we go? Misery Loves Company. It did not dissappoint! The menu is creative, well executed and supported bby excellent cocktails and desserts. One of Vermont's finest restaurants!
Amazing and friendly staff who can give great recommendation for food or drink based on your preferences. Small venue, reservations are strongly recommended but walk-ins are welcome. Stopped here for dinner one night on the drive up to Montreal. I believe the menu rotates on a weekly basis. I will visit here again on future visits to the Burlington area!
