Obviously a well loved major park in Markham, and on the warm October day I was there, buzzing with families partaking in walking the grounds and the trails, picnicking, and generally communing with nature in the grounds and forests at the top of the Rouge River. It was however disappointing to see just how much trash littered the shores of the Milne Reservoir, evidently tossed there by people fishing lure bags, fishing line, half empty bags of frozen corn the evidence and the unfortunate lack of garbage cans - human nature being what it is, people really can be awful, and that was on full display here. I removed nearly 20 lbs of trash from the shores and probably could have filled another 5 bags easily. So maddening, because this is a beautiful area and still has extensive wildlife birds, butterflies, spawning salmon etc - it’s contingent on ALL of us to call out antisocial behaviour like littering and make the places we visit just a little better and cleaner than when we found them
This is a large urban park in Markham. It has a big parking lot, washrooms and picnic tables. It has a pond but not suitable for swimming. You can walk, bike in the park. You can also have a picnic or BBQ charcoal only. You need to pay for parking in weekends and holidays between Victoria day and Thanks Giving holiday only.
$5 per person entry
Great place never been there
Amazing park to visit within Toronto.
