No person to seat you. Free for all to be seated. Tight and close quarters. Old fashioned small town business. Serves lunch for about the last 2hrs. Breakfast for good at best. Sausage gravy and biscuits were bland, I’ve been to multiple other establishments with better. But they were fair for the price. I wouldn’t mind trying lunch there to se if it’s any better. We witnessed our waiter seat someone after and put more hustle and attention into a “regulars” drink and meal. She however took much longer to get our drinks and then to order our food. We aren’t regulars, this being our first time and we’re in our early 20’s.
There was no greeter at the door as you entered, and there was people seated in the entrance area as if waiting to be seated. After about 5 minutes we noticed a sign tucked into a corner that said please seat yourself. We found a table towards the back of the building and sat down. We waited for it seemed like at least 5 more minutes before anyone even stopped at our table, even though several waitresses passed by our table many times. Once we were waited on, our food arrived very quickly, and was pleasantly presented. That being said, neither of us thought that the food was up to snuff. The egg omelets were rather toff and the expected flavor just wasn't there. And then there is the surcharge that you have to pay to use a charge or debit card. There are several other restaurants in Hastings that serve better food for less money, and do not charge a surcharge to use your plastic to pay your bill. I will be going to those restaurants in the future instead of Mills Landing.
Eggs, hash portion a bit skimpy, & Texas toast were all good! Waitress was pleasant & prompt. Coffee could be better. Decor cute, clean enough. They don't rush you out. Will be back
Stopped here during the lunch hour, but now I want to go back for breakfast. Cute and vintage-y decor, I agree with the other reviews who said it's like going to Grandma's house. Lunch was tasty and the waitress was friendly and joked around with us. Definitely will be back.
Wow this place is not good. The food is only OK and the decor is straight out of party city. One of the servers barks orders at the other servers right in front of the customers. I'm assuming she thinks this is ok since she's probably been there the longest but usually treating coworkers with a little respect works a lot better. It made for a very uncomfortable visit. Then the server who cashed us out charged an extra dollar on top of the tip we asked to charge for....maybe this is how they go about making extra money? Who knows but glad I'm not going back there again.
This is a hometown favorite style restaurant. REAL FOOD, breakfast is great here, generous portions and made to order, just how you like it. Always glad to stop in whenever I'm on a visit. Breakfast or lunch you won't be disappointed!
Great breakfast place. Friendly staff. Always ready with the coffee. EDIT: Had to lower to three stars due to practice of asking for tip before bill is paid and adding fees to bill for using credit/debit. These two factors will prevent me from revisiting.
I really REALLY wish that this place was open longer than it is. My husband and I live locally but work opposite shifts, so it's very difficult to spend a breakfast/lunch/dinner together. When we go out to eat it's a mixture of each of our time clocks. We've only been able to wake up in time together to go to Mill's Landing twice... and we moved here in May of 2015. Between their working hours and our working/awake hours altogether, it's very tough to make it in time. I sure wish they were open later, and served breakfast all days of the week. Their omelettes and biscuits and gravy are wonderful, as are their burgers. Thank you ladies and gentlemen-- but please consider those that can't meet your early times. Perhaps more business would be brought in if you considered the individuals that work second shift 3PM onward at Viking and Hasting Manufacturing?
I'm sad to report negatively on what used to be the only decent breakfast spot in town. The last two times I've been there, the food has been average at best and the wait was 45 minutes the first time and an hour the second, excessive for simple breakfast orders. I'm not sure if this place has lost some of their waitresses and aren't fully staffed or what's going on. It took awhile even to order coffee which was not routinely refilled and then an hour's wait for half an order of eggs benedict. I ordered eggs over medium as over easy sometimes results in undercooked whites. The yolk was completely cooked and tasted more like a hard-boiled egg. Unfortunately, our server never asked if everything was okay, so we endured the mediocre breakfasts. I also noticed my serving of hash browns amounted to about 5 small bites, significantly less than another plate at our table. Service and timeliness needs to be stepped up a lot for me to return. Also, this place could stand to lose a lot of its tacky décor. I guess that's what makes it a staple, but it doesn't work if everything else doesn't work.
I have been coming to Mills Landing for about 16 years and have ALWAYS gotten excellent, hot and delicious food! They go way out on their seasonal decorations and waitress staff is great-we especially appreciate Anna and Brenda Thanks Mills Landing for always being here for us!
