We were camping in the area during a rainy weekend and looking for something interesting and inside to do. This fit the bill fine. The exhibits are nicely put together and the guided tour of the "4 seasons room" was especially interesting. There are some activities for kids to do and things to play with. My son (who is 10 years old) ended up having a decent time. The museum is pretty small so we only spent an hour or so there. There is a trading post on the same site which is kind of interesting. Mostly this is a store that sells items made on the reserve; took us maybe 20 minutes to go through that. It was a nice stop on a rainy day and we learned some interesting things about the Mille Lacs Reservation.

Visited yesterday with three generations of my family and everyone really enjoyed it! Be sure to take a tour of the Four Seasons room where you can see how the Native Americans moved seasonally in Minnesota to gather food. It informs the structures they lived in, how they fished, harvested wild rice, hunted, or gathered sap for processing into sugar. The tour guide's grandmother was represented in the life-size diorama cooking fish. It was really wonderful because the guide was sharing the story of his people. It didn't feel like just historical artifacts and rituals, but a culture that still carries on in today's world. Be sure to visit the Trading Post, a wonderful high-quality selection of Native American crafts! We have visited the museum & trading post a number of times and we always enjoy it and learn something new each time.

Lots of information. If you have an opportunity to visit the 4 Seasons Room while your there do so cause it's really cool. The souvenir shop is really nice too. It's on the pricey side however it's a great place to window shop. The whole reservation area was just an all around great experience.

A wonderful place to learn the beautiful and colorful history of Native Americans in general and the Mille Lacs band of Ojibwa in particular. Excellent retail store attached for children to adults for decorative and educational products. Affiliated with the MN State Historical Society that is a wonderful alliance for continuity of financial support and in depth research resources.

Very interesting museum displays, and a knowledgeable guided tour. Several videos of dancers and native activities. Nice gift shop next door.
