Crepe review from the husband…… On any given day, you say “crepe” to me, and you’ll get a rude reply. But, to keep the wife happy, I thought I would surprise her and my daughter with a place for them. I had plans for a cup of coffee and hopefully a sticky bun. Instead, we walked into a menu loaded with a ton of great choices for a picky Foodie wife, a daughter that has very distinct ideas of what’s food …… AND a crepe stuffed with the nicest pulled pork filling ever for me. Real nice BBQ sauce, coleslaw, and hot steamy boil of soup. The wife had a smoked salmon crepe and the daughter also had a pulled pork crepe, both cleaned their plates of every last crumb. Staff were great, and the pleasant post meal chat with the chef was worth an extra star. They really care about what they are serving up. So, if we could give this place more then five stars, we would. The restaurant is located in the town area that has finished the big municipal renovation project. Nice area to stroll around, and the access to the waterfall walkway is right across the street. We have found a new favourite restaurant just a short drive from Ottawa West, and we’ll now be frequent customers.
I have had sweet crepes many times but i have not had savoury… well until now. These crepes are absolutely delicious. I am so happy to have found this super original restaurant. I have now been back 5 times and each time I tried a different flavour and have not been disappointed. Thanks for such a nice meal
Found this place online when looking for other places to eat in Almonte, I can’t even say anything bad about this place. Martin was amazing and the food was absolutely outstanding, everything was made same day and super fresh. The best tasting crepe I’ve ever eaten. Definitely want to come back here again
Best experience I’ve had in Almonte! Wendy was the best!! Everyone I interacted with was so kind, considerate & hilarious! The food was amazing and was the perfect portion for me. Can’t wait to go back and enjoy not only the amazing Mill Street Crepe Company but the entire strip malls great little shops!!
First, we didn't get the table we liked and asked for. Ok, let's overlook that. We were waiting for some time to even make an order. The menu had food on it. Not only printed : but it was dirty and had pieces of food on it. We ordered a mushroom soup to go and a chicken crepe $24 per crepe? ouch. but we were hungry. After approx. 15min, here comes the waitress and says sorry, we don't have mushroom soup. Ok, let's order tomato soup. After sitting there for a long time, about 40min comes, the moody girl, without a single word, puts two glasses of water on our table that we didn't ask for. We ask how long our order will take; she says I don't know God forbid she said "I'll ask". We say: could you please ask? And she's like oookkk....like she's doing us a favour. She didn't ask. After some time, comes the waitress from the beginning and says: I'm sorry, we are understaffed, it's going to take another 10 minutes maybe. We cancelled our order and walked away. She was just "sorry guys," as if it was no big deal. So, to sum up, we sat there for a long time, and we didn't get the preferred table, mushroom soup, or overpriced $24 crepe maybe it was better that we didn't get it. And at one point, we could smell burnt food. The overall atmosphere looks like they have internal problems, not only short-staffed. If you can't handle a certain number of customers, don't force people to sit there, waiting hungrily. It's not fair.
Words cannot express how disappointed my wife and I are with a local restaurant here in Almonte. We have been part of the town and community for 5 years and have always felt that it really is - The Friendly Town. Unfortunately, that is the furthest from what we experienced at Mill Street Crepe Company from its owner, Wendy. My wife and our two boys 2 and 5 years old stopped in for lunch. My wife is also 2 weeks away from having our third child; and, we thought it would be nice to enjoy a local spot for lunch on the weekend as a family of 4. We ordered with the server - who I had no issues with. And, we enjoyed our food and time as a family. During our lunch, my 2 year old fell and started crying my wife and I consoled him and got him to a happy medium. However, that is when things seemed to take a turn for the worst. The owner came out blasting my wife and I for allowing our child to cry and disrupt the rest of those dining at the restaurant ….the place was empty except for 2 other tables with guests who gave no mention or gesture that they had any issues. The owner Wendy looked as if she couldn’t contain herself as she squatted at us while we got our kids ready to leave at this time we had already paid. Initially, I felt as if what was going on was a joke…that they couldn’t be serious since there was nothing we were doing wrong; and, we were already leaving. Yet, she kept freaking out as if we were a pack of teenagers who had made a mess of her space. We were dumbfounded, shocked, and mostly disappointed. Especially since this is no way to treat anyone - particularly pregnant with young children. I will never recommend Wendy and her restaurant. And, I caution anyone who thinks of dining at this establishment - as you might be the next batch of patrons to be put in the same position. Wendy the owner chose to lash out at a family of 4 soon to be 5 in a VERY family-friendly area at the end of a lunch outing…..I have to wonder what she thought she was going to accomplish or gain in behaving that way so publicly. Anyway, consider yourselves warned!
This place is a hidden gem! Martin and the staff are exceptional. Friendly, Outgoing, Amazing Customer Service from the start - which makes it a very welcoming atmosphere. The food is fantastic, fresh, you won’t be disappointed!!
Wonderful service with great safety measures in place. Our savory crepes were incredibly delicious: I tried the pulled pork crepe and my partner had the ham crepe both with a side of red pepper tomato soup. I particularly enjoy that they cater to people with food intolerance. A bit on the pricey side, but the portions are good!
We have eaten at the Mill Street Crepe Company a few times over the last couple of years. We took a trip to Almonte yesterday and were only going to grab a coffee but decided to sit and have a meal. Great friendly service, excellent crepe-n-soup, and crepe-n-salad; a nice Saturday morning experience. Nice job on their Covid prevention - cleaning, gives a customer piece of mind. If you find yourself in Almonte, stop in for a meal!
A wonderful, family owned and women operated eatery. The Cherry & Brie crepe was delicious, with a nice bit of crunch and paired with the daily soup. Will be coming back!
