We're on a road trip and needed a place to camp for the night, this place is fairly off the beaten path so I figured chances were good there'd be an open spot at 9pm. Well the campground was totally empty! We spent a very peaceful night under some maple trees. In the morning we explored the historic homestead, very beautiful and quiet. The peacocks were very interested in us, and we picked up a few feathers. The camp area has vaulted toilets but the day use area has restrooms. In the morning a park employee told us they've done away with parking fees in favor of donations, the campsites weren't numbered so perhaps they're by donation as well? We were happy to pay the $17 regardless.

Great experience for the young and old alike. The peacocks on the grounds are amazing and beautiful. Something you won't see most anywhere.

This is a great park. Very large at 1100 acres there are miles of trails to hike bike or bring the horses.

Good for a wander or a hike. Fern Woods trail is my favorite, it passes through some old growth. It's a cattle range so you may see cows. Peacocks hang out around the parking lot. Dogs aren't allowed beyond the gate where most of the trails are.
