After 4 visits, I am thrilled to share my enthusiasm and excitement for Midori Ramen. They place special care, and craftsmanship across their dishes. You certainly do taste it! Compared to other brands, Midori offers an elevated experience and quality thanks to their consistency, specialty broth, and tasty noodles. Their service and hospitality is also felt with their staff's attention to detail, and making reasonable accommodations for customers. I am happy to conclude that Midori is highly recommended, and I am confident that most people will appreciate the craft of making scrumptious ramen. As a last piece of feedback, I think Midori can benefit from slightly increasing portion sizes, this also includes appetizers. However, this is a minor point in comparison to everything else offered. Wishing Midori great success! Please do give them a serious try!
Chicken broth was delicious It's very creamy and tasty. The interior is nice. Seats have a bag storage underneath which is a bonus for me. We tried 3 types of ramen, the signature, black garlic and red spicy. My favorite was the signature. Ramen start at around 15 + tax and goes up depending on additional toppings. They do have appetizers and dons. Will try next time. Parking: Lots of parking
Had a great experience coming here. The interior was modern and clean. Loved the little touches of the restaurant that created a nice vibe. The tables had the logo on it and the chairs had a nice basket for your bag. The servers were really nice and quick. Christine was very attentive and gave great suggestions on food options. Food came quick and the presentation was amazing. Loved the creamy black garlic broth. Will definitely be back again!
we came at lunch, we were greeted and sat right away. We wanted to try this place because of the positive reviews. 1. Broth/soup was absolutely flavourful! Its not super salty like other ramen places. I got the black garlic ramen and it was absolutely delicious. Ramen noodles was cooked just right usually in other places i leave some broth and just eat mostly the noodles and meat, but i left the bowl empty for the first time. Quality/flavour - 5/5 2. Portions were good. The chicken and pork was tender! You do only get one piece of pork and chicken, but honestly i forgot about the meats haha because i was enjoying the noodles and broth so much. The dumplings were freshly made and also did not disappoint with the flavor 3. Presentation of the ramen was beautiful, they place the toppings nicely. 4. Friendly staff, they check on you and refill your water and tea without you asking. 5. Fast service! 6. Very clean space. You even get a basket underneath the chair to put your stuff. Space is small however with limited tables. 7. Very reasonable prices of all the items in their menu. Ramen will cost you about $15+. Overall 5/5. Definitely recommend this place.
Came here with the family after swimming, so we were ravenous. We got here at 5, so there were only a few tables occupied and we were seated right away. We ordered the chicken karaage, the red spicy ramen, the duck shoyu and the signature tori Paitan. Before coming here, I read the reviews so I thought there may still be a few kinks to work out with the soup. However, I found the broth creamy and perfectly flavoured. One of the reasons why I prefer Midori over the other franchises based on my experience at the downtown location is because the soup base isn’t just salt. The flavour is subtle and I don’t feel parched after an hour. We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals and would definitely come back again for some hearty bowls of ramen.
Ordered the Signature and the Red Spicy mild ramen. Both the broths were very creamy but not that flavourful, but both the pork and chicken chashu were good. Mild is not spicy at all so would definitely get medium spice next time. I think they mainly do chicken based broth which is good but I definitely prefer pork based broth. The portions were also good. The restaurant itself is small but yet feels spacious and looks modern and nice.
Was recommended this place and got to say that it definitely did not disappoint. The star of the show was definitely the ramen broth which was creamy yet spicy and hit all the right notes of an amazing ramen broth. That along with good portioning and prompt and enthusiastic service made it an overall amazing experience. Definitely making it back to this spot again and highly recommend it.
One of the best ramen I had in the city, and I'm so glad they are close by to me. The restaurant was newly opened late last year and I remember I couldn't get a table then. Fast forward to January 2023, I was able to walk in for lunch without a problem. The place looks very clean and newly renovated as expected. The only knock would be the heavy, low back chairs that make a loud sound when pulled out from the table. The service we got was very good, the wait staff was attentive to all our needs and kept returning to top up our water. The food was great! But the broth was a bit on the salty side. The chicken karaage was also crispy and juicy which made a great appetizer.
Came here to try the Scarborough location as I have previously ate at the one downtown. Pretty decent, but not life changing, like when I had the Signature ramen downtown. This time, I tried the special black truffle ramen, which was pretty good. I finished all the soup. My wife got the red spicy and she thought it was good. We also ordered gyoza, purple yam fries and takoyaki. The gyoza were alright, could be crispier. The other two were amazing. Lots of parking, but not many seats inside so come early. No amex.
Midori Ramen’s signature tori paitan ramen $17.49 seemingly was developed for me… the broth wasn’t overly salty, yet it was still creamy and hearty enough to satisfy. It didn’t leave me with an overwhelming need to drink tons of water after the meal and given was less oily, my stomach didn’t have an adverse reaction either. I can see how some diners find their broth bland as it’s not as powerful as some competitors, but I found it was flavourful enough without being too much. If you’re in the mood for a punch of flavour, their spicy ramen $15.49 could work. I liked that they offer a scale of spiciness as we found the “mild” already had a sufficient kick. The noodles were cooked perfectly, the thick version springy enough with bite. I just wasn’t overly fond of the ingredients included in the signature ramen: the red onions were too raw and needed ample time in the broth before the stingy acid subsided; the finely shredded aosa sea lettuce was lost in the soup not adding any flavour or texture; and the fried bogo burdock root was too hard and made me feel like I was eating hay. Moo…. I would have liked the two pieces of cha shu pork and chicken to be hotter. At Midori, they don’t seem to blowtorch the meat before it’s presented so they are also pale and pasty. Their onsen egg was just bordering on becoming overcooked, the edges solidifying against the molten texture, yet still ice cold in the centre, despite sitting in the broth. If anything, the chicken karaage $6.99 was probably the best part of the meal and I would have happily had it with a bowl of plain ramen with scallions. Left in three palm-sized pieces, the larger cuts meant the chicken was juicy. The breading also included an ideal amount of spices for flavour. Maybe my experience will encourage ramen restaurants to offer a “build your own bowl” menu item. Because as much as I enjoyed Midori’s noodles and broth, the ingredients included in a bowl of ramen is still an integral part of the meal. And unfortunately, these all fell flat.
