As a wedding photographer, I LOVE Middlegrounds! It's close to downtown Toledo wedding venues, provides an amazing backdrop for small elopements, and is a perfect spot for engagement photos. It looks beautiful year-round and has restrooms to change clothes, ample parking, and lots of different locations with different scenery to change things up. We are so lucky to have such a versatile and convenient park in the area!
Dog park. Visited the dog park for our first time today, we have an almost 6 month old golden retriever puppy. With him just about 40 pounds I decided to check out the large dog area first. Right as we entered we were greeted with several dogs, two in particular that we had problems with The second dog and the owner recognized that the behavior was a little to rough even though it wasn’t aggressive and came and leased their dog to redirect. These two dogs were playing very rough, not aggressive but something that myself and my dog were both uncomfortable with. My dog was being submissive, crouching down to the ground, tail between the legs and backing up. To try to break up and get some space, I stepped in between the one dog and my dog to get my dog back on the leash. While doing so I put my leg up and the other dog ran into me The dog was in motion heading towards my dog and was very thick, strong built dog. The owner proceeds to approach me very angrily accusing me of kicking his dog. I left and entered the small dog area where there was another golden retriever and a few xsmall dogs. Everyone was welcoming in that area and the dogs played well together. The dog park itself is a nice area despite the surrounding area. Both play areas were clean, had some shady spots and a couple obstacles that the dogs can play in and around. We ended up taking a walk by the river and getting a nice picture.
Laid on a slab of granet and looked up and this was I was gifted with. No sounds of traffic and a gentle breeze. Did not want to leave.
Awesome place, also has a dog park. Lovely grounds. Wonderful Park to relax and chill and enjoy the scenery.
Beautiful park near the center of the city. Really unique place.
Awesome trails, beautiful view and great sized free dog park. Now if dog owners would just clean up after their animals. I cleaned up about 5 of them plus my own dog's mess. Follow the rules people, don't spoil a good thing!
One of the newest parks in the area. Kayak launch off the river, and about a mile and a half of trails. Really great place to visit on a lunch break. I usually see people fishing here in the afternoons. Also a nice off-leash dog play area, one fenced in area for large dogs and another for small. Lots of space for dogs to run around, and lots of trees/plants to sniff.
Great riverfront park! There are a variety of places to sit along the water and in other areas of the park. A few nice and wide trails to enjoy and a dag park.
Recently developed area located near downtown, on the river... it's not a large place but manages to fit most things a person and their 4 legged companion would require. A dog park area divided for large and small. No fancy toys but very roomy for energetic play, and quite convenient for the populous that calls that area home...my lil guy and I enjoy on and off the trails and on some days if no one is around we confess to off leash time to chase the occasional squirrel or rabbit...there is a spot intended for kayak launching...a couple of areas right on rivers edge to contemplate your place in this world or do some grilling...a comfortable looking shelter house with restroom and water fountain attached...an open air grouping of tables and chairs with a round of umbrellas overhead, at the moment resembling a tree full of chrysalises patiently waiting for spring completes the package...go enjoy.
I've only used the dog park area, but my dog adores it and I personally feel its the best dog park I've been to after living in 4 different states with my dog. I keep coming back here to spend time with the other dogs and dog owners, and I hear the rest of the park is up to the same standards of care as the dog park.
