The CEGEP should be a place of openness, exchange, and reflection, where decisions are based on facts and clear processes. Unfortunately, the administration has not always demonstrated this rigor.nnIt is concerning to see that an important decision was made based on personal perceptions rather than verified information. Such an approach reflects neither the educational mission of an institution nor the values of fairness and neutrality that should be found there.nnI sincerely hope that the institution will reassess its internal mechanisms to ensure that future decisions are based on facts and not subjective interpretations.
Unfortunately, my experience at Cégep de Shawinigan was not positive, for several reasons:nnAs everywhere, there are good and not-so-good teachers. I was fortunate enough to encounter some who were wonderful. Unfortunately, I also experienced situations that deeply disappointed me, particularly in a course taught by James Hoffman, a teacher who, in my experience, lacks listening skills and empathy towards his students.nWhen the class average drops to 2 out of 11, it's time to ask some questions. Are all the students truly at fault? Or is there a real pedagogical problem?nnOver time, several students, especially international students, shared their discomfort with me, expressing that they felt neither understood nor supported. This collective feeling gives the impression that the success of international students is not always a priority.nnMy question is simple: why accept international students if they are not supported towards success? Is it solely for their financial contribution?nnI sincerely encourage prospective international students to do their research and consider other CEGEPs where the welcome and support seem better suited to their needs.nnI remain hopeful that things will change, because the truth always comes out in the end.
Great place to train and swim!
It was a wonderful and enriching experience; we have something for everyone. I had a great time there, the food is excellent, and so is student life!
Of all the institutions I've attended, this one is probably the worst managed. Twice in a row, I wasn't on the class lists and received no information about my entitlements or where I was supposed to go. A small number of employees are truly wonderful, clearly working more for what they're paid. A big thank you to the new Academic Advisor and the only person who manages student support. You give me a glimmer of hope for the Cégep.nnI was fortunate to have some wonderful teachers, but also a handful of other students... Nothing that's different from any other Cégep.nnPhysical education isn't suitable for everyone. If you have health problems, are overweight, or have any limitations, change Cégeps. The professors will make you feel out of place anyway; they're very good at pushing you aside to prioritize future professionals.nnIf you have a choice between two establishments, choose the other one.
