I have several accounts, a line of credit and a vehicle loan with MHVFCU. Every employee I've ever encountered has always been tremendously friendly and the atmosphere is fantastic in the Kingston branches. My complaints are: In the midst of changing life circumstances I had some confusion after re-arranging which accounts were used for bills and which accounts were used for day-to-day spending. Ultimately, I ended up being charged $455 worth of $35 over-draft fees over a two day spending period, even though I had the funds available in a different account. $175 was refunded, but not until after I was told that I needed to take responsibility for my actions and instructed to hand-write a note to the CEO explaining the situation and asking for the funds to be refunded. Second complaint: When I was presented with the line of credit (which I have been using as an overdraft protection account), I was never told that I would be charged $3 for EVERY transaction from the line of credit. Over the course of 2 years, this has amounted to around $600. I've been a longtime customer with several accounts and a loan and I've been charged close to $1000 by MHVFCU.

This is an all-around good credit union, I've been very pleased. For me, the most valuable service they offer is their live teller machines after-hours and on the weekends.

This credit union is the worst one yet. They have been closed for two business days over a "technology upgrade" that has denied its members access to any of their account information and the ability to perform necessary transactions, while enabling themselves to collect fees for negative balances/overdrawn accounts. These banking errors are caused by the eliminated access to account information. I will tell everyone I meet and know about this and NOT to use this institution and if they ever reopen will be removing my funds immediately and switching to another institution.
