Wow! This museum is outstanding. The staff were so friendly, the information was very easy to understand. I spent about 2.5 hours there and still had to cut my time short. I would recommend 4 hours there if you enjoy reading and looking at everything! I didn’t stop in the restaurant but the menu looks delicious. Definitely worthy of your time!
Better than we expected! Shed light on some Interesting history. They even have a chunk of the Berlin Wall! Which seemed unrelated to Mennonite history? Not a huge hall, and all the outdoor buildings are closed in the winter seasons starting in Oct. took us 2 hours to go thru what was open, a great amount of time.
I have been to this place a few times and always enjoyed it. Learning about culture and heritage of the Mennonite in Manitoba and wandering around the village reminded me of the diversity of this great country.Visited onWeekdayWait timeNo waitReservation recommendedNo
Lots to see here. Well laid out and friendly staff and volunteers. A good restaurant on site as well with many traditional Mennonite dishes on the menu.

It is a really wonderful place with really kind and helpful people! The museum features a variety of exhibits, including historical artifacts, photos, and interactive displays. Visitors can learn about the early Mennonite settlers in Manitoba, their customs, traditions, and religious beliefs. The museum also includes a replica Mennonite village that recreates life in a typical Mennonite farming community. In addition to the exhibits, the Mennonite Heritage Village Museum hosts various events throughout the year, including traditional Mennonite festivals, concerts, and educational programs. It's a great place to visit for anyone interested in the history and culture of the Mennonite community in Manitoba. They also have a great restaurant to enjoy some traditional meals!
I had planned to visit many times and today was the day I finally went! They did an amazing job of recreating a Mennonite 'village', and I was so impressed with the entire site. I can't wait for my next visit and to show others. They have recreated the barns, homes, tinsmith shop, school, and church, and all are actual historical structures donated to the museum. They have the iconic windmill and even an actual section of the Berlin Wall that was shipped to Canada. They also have a small garage full of vintage autos. There was a small farm with some animals. Just an absolutely fabulous afternoon!!
One of my good friends came out to visit from our home town Nanaimo, B.C She wanted to visit the museum and I had never been I've lived here for 4 years so we made a day of it. Most of the attractions are out doors, so visit on a nice day which we did We leared a lot and it was very interesting and fun to walk through the buildings. The gift shop has a lot of nice homemade items to choose from. The resaurant was closed when we went so we didn't get to try the food. I loved interacting with the animals. Lots of babies and the animals were happy to let us pet them. The workers we encountered were very nice and friendly. Thank you for the lovely experience
Second visit there. This time it was almost empty because of the covid, so we managed to really enjoy walking around and seeing everything with nobody around. The only con was that games were closed and other rides as well because of the lack of people
The Mennonite Heritage village museum is a wonderful place to go and learn about the history of the Mennonite people, or to quite simply go and reflect on its rich history. I learnt a few new things and saw some interesting artifacts. Very recommended to go and visit.
