Best little steakhouse in the south end. The Cajun seafood linguine is so delicious, just enough heat that even those who don't like overly spicy dishes will enjoy. Sausage pairs nicely with the scallops and shrimp. Save some bread to soak up the yummy sauce if you don't like to lick the plates in public. The rack of lamb was cooked to perfection as ordered and the parmesan roasted potatoes had just enough crunch to the cheesy skins. Our server Paul was most helpful in choosing the best wine to pair with our entire meal.
At 121 years old, the Melrose Grill is a Renton institution. Beautiful wood and leather booths, classic lightning, and an amazing staff complete the elegant ambiance of this timeless steak house. Nightly specials vary, in addition to the cuts of steak. The menu has something for everyone. Superb wine list. Excellent cocktails and selection at the bar.
We visit a few times a year. We are never and I mean NEVER disappointed in our service, food or drinks. Make your reservations and go! Steak is our standard go to, but we went outside our lines and got the Melrose Stroganoff and the Cajun Seafood this time. Their staff is attentive, kind and knows the offerings very well. Renton's steakhouse gem.
So so SO SO YUMMY! The staff are super kind and welcoming, it's a little dark so watch your step, but they are so attentive and really kind! The food here is cooked to perfection, and I love it! The steak was really flavourful, and the sides were delicious. We also had the Seafood Cajun Pasta, and everything was so flavourful, it's such a nice place to dine in, and just relax and have a good time! Thank you!
5 Stars! Came in at 9:15pm when closing time was 10pm on a Friday. Ordered a drink at the bar with Jacob shaved head & tats. Awesome Old Fashioned with local Bourbon. Ate Roasted Chicken Breast, add Grilled Prawns, sub mashed potatoes for Parmesan Garlic Potatoes with side of Mushrooms. Chicken was perfect! Prawns were not tough and seasoned excellent! Could drink this sauce. Vegetables were done wonderfully, including Mushrooms. WILL be back! Well done!
The general manager Franco was nice enough to squeeze our party of 11 very last minute to help celebrate my sister's birthday. This is her favorite restaurant and we wanted to share it with the rest of the family as to why it is. Of course it was a hit! Everyone enjoyed their meal and it was well seasoned. From the steak to the salmon to the veggies. Everything was perfection. Would definitely bring the family again.
Hands down the best place to order a steak. Amazing food and drinks, historic atmosphere and friendly staff. Make reservation’s, at least 2 weeks out. Photos are of the 16oz ribeye, salmon filet, lemon drop, raspberry lemon drop, cheesecake and chocolate torte. All were 5 stars.
We visited Melrose Grill looking for a nice night out with good steak and seafood, and it delivered. The restaurant was. Very busy when we arrived, so we were glad to have made a reservation; the dining area is quite small and cozy. The atmosphere was overall very casual, very much like a small pub, but they dim the lights to remind you you're at a nicer kind of establishment. My ribeye was cooked perfectly, the garlic mashed potatoe were delicious, and while the mixed vegetables tasted good, they were a bit mushy. My wife loved her steak and described the salmon and shrimp as "standard"; it's kinda hard to make grilled shrimp and salmon stand out, in their defense. We had an apple crisp for dessert. The waitress described it well as an apple crumble and opted to add ice cream to it, which was a good decision. As far as steak houses go, there is real value in Melrose Grill. They provide great quality steaks at a reasonable price, and they come with two sides, a salad, and dinner rolls, while other higher end places serve the same quality steaks and charge separate for each side and salads are simply on the appetizer or sides menu. I see why this place has been around since 1901; they do a great job.
They have a good rating for a reason! Absolutely loved the steak in here. We are from Texas and it was hard to get a match but so far best steak we had in WA. Would definitely recommend trying this place for a juicy and tasty steak. We also tried the holiday special eggnog crème brûlée. Thanks!
Great experience, we ended up walking in on our Anniversary without a reservation and were seated with ten minutes of arrival! We ordered the Filet Oscar-Style plus grilled prawns and the salmon then finished with the lemon tart and peach crisp. The steak was cooked perfectly and the sides were great but it could've gone without the zucchini. Overall an excellent experience for food and service.
