We had a great stay overall! Since we booked late, we initially missed requesting a room near the pool for my daughter. At check-in, the receptionist was very respectful and explained that no clean rooms in that area were available yet, even when we offered to wait, so we took a 2nd-floor room. When we arrived, the room was clean and organized, though the washroom flush wasn't working. I called reception, and they sent someone to fix it immediately! The breakfast was a delight—great food, constantly refilled so there were no empty trays, and welcoming staff. The location is excellent, with easy access to the mall and food stalls outside. My only suggestion for improvement would be to add a drinking fountain, as the vending machine requires exact cash. Overall, we really enjoyed our time here!
We had an excellent night here in transit. The restaurant was excellent in the evening Abby and John provided great service and the breakfast was good, although we suspect the first batch of sausages were from the previous day. Coffee was top notch.nWe enjoyed the casino.nUnderstand that the hotel is needing updating as its getting a wee bit worn, nothing serious, but it's getting dated.nThis would be a good place for kids with the pool and everything. If travelling as a couple, as to make sure you are not poolside as kids will be enjoying themselves in the pool.nEasy in and out for Highway 1.nRecommend
I have been staying at this hotel since I was around 10 years old, and now, nearly 30 years later, it’s disappointing to see how much it has declined. It was once considered one of the nicer, more luxurious places to stay, but unfortunately it no longer reflects that standard.nnThe property appears to have seen very few meaningful updates over the years. Our rooms were not as clean as expected, with dirty carpets and curtains, and there were several unfinished paint jobs around the air conditioners, toilets, and other fixtures that gave the room an unmaintained appearance. The air conditioning unit was also extremely loud, making it difficult to get a comfortable night’s sleep. Some rooms have smart TVs however, they are useless when they will not connect to the hotel internet. Should have read the reviews prior to booking it appears for month you have known about housekeeping and maintenance issues but are choosing to not address the issues.nnThe amenities were equally disappointing. The hot tub has been permanently filled with concrete, the sauna was closed, and the pool was so cold that children were visibly shivering, with some even developing blue lips after being in the water. These facilities were a major reason we chose this hotel, so it was frustrating to find them unavailable or unusable. We were so excited to take all our children and meet up here for a weekend the way we did with our cousins but it will definitely be the last time our family goes to the Medicine Hat Lodge.nnThe complimentary breakfast was very basic and lacked the quality and variety that many hotels now offer. The staff in the breakfast area had the best customer service skills in every area of the hotel.nnOverall, the hotel feels tired, dated, and in need of significant renovation and investment. What was once a destination that felt upscale now feels more comparable to a budget motel. It’s unfortunate because this hotel holds many fond memories for my family, but unless substantial improvements are made, I don’t believe it offers the value or experience that its reputation once promised.
We had a great experience at the Medicine Hat Lodge, even with our late-night arrival. Because the casino is tucked away from the main hotel wing, the atmosphere remained very quiet and peaceful for a late check-in, which we really appreciated.nShortly after getting settled, we headed down to the casino for a late dinner and had a delicious steak sandwich that was on special. The service was excellent despite the hour, and the entire menu was very reasonably priced. After a quiet night's sleep, we got up and enjoyed the free breakfast buffet. It was the perfect way to fuel up before hitting the road again.nThe location is incredibly convenient for travelers, and the combination of good food, friendly service, and a calm environment made it a perfect stay. We would definitely stop here again.
The hotel desk was great but Troy g yo booknThe rooms I got sent to a central booking and booked rooms but because I booked them so close tonCheck in I couldn’t cancel or change anything and the price was tighter than the other sites on the web. The front desk fixed everything but I did end up being charged a lot more than the price I was expecting to pay. I’m sure they will fix it but it’s timenDon’t have to resolve the matter. The free breakfast buffet was good, but the trays were mostly empty. And it took a long time for anything to be refilled. The orange juice was just water, not orange juice and when we went to the other side to order food, we stopped for half an hour and no one came to take our order we went to the bar to order and no one took our order there either so we went out of the hotel to eat. The staff was pleasant enough at the front desk and they did help us. to make sure we were all comfortable in our rooms, but I don’t think I’ll go back. It was expensive and there was no hot tub even though there was a pool.
