Medicine Hat Lodge Hotel

This is my first time staying at the medicine hat LodgenThe staff have been very polite and helpful five stars to themnThe hotel itself is very tired. Looking the carpets in the room look like the felt on a pool table. The beds are wonderful. Everything is very basic even though it’s expensive to be here. I found it strange for a hotel that was no writing pad. Pen paper nothingnthe floor coverings in the elevator scratched and curling in other words this hotel needs a major updatenA great thing in the favour is that it is pet friendly

We loved our stay here. The rooms are comfy and clean. The breakfast is a great deal better than any other hotel breakfast I've had. They have a great selection of assorted fruits, pancakes with luxurious toppings. The staff were friendly and helpful. If I had a complaint it would just be that the pool is too cold but maybe I'm just a wimp lol

The check in was great. The staff were friendly. The free breakfast was good. And we had a lot of fun on the waterslides! Our kids loved it.nnThe place could use a refresh. Our bed was clean but the springs are starting to sag. But overall their prices reflect what they have, to get a room at their rates you probably can't expect everything to be posh.

Over all a pleasant 1 night stay on our vacation.nnRoom were comfortable 2 queen bed on our stay included microwave and mini fridge. The air-conditioning unit was frozen up when we got in, but setting it to warm up thawed it quickly and once set back to cool it worked well without issue.nnKids loved the water slides, the pool area is bit sparce on where to set your belongings/towels as there is no locker/change rooms and seating is sparse save for small patio sets outside the poolside rooms.nnThe included breakfast buffet was good and better than the average continental breakfast from my experience.nnBiggest issue is just the visual appeal which is not terrible just dated and not modern feeling.

After checking in we went to the pool. When we were done in the pool we couldn’t get back into the room. It took a long time before they were able to get the door open. Then they were trying to fix the door my husband had to help they still didn’t fix it and then we were locked in the room! All of this happened during my kids bedtime. They wanted us to leave the door open and they would come back when the kids were asleep to work on it again. We refused to leave our room open to the public and requested a new room. The next room had a broken bed and the a/c didn’t work but at that point we just wanted to go to bed. I complained and the man on duty said he would talk to the manager in the morning. I checked with them the next day and that guy had called in sick so no one told the manager about the issues. They called the manager and he offered a $40 refund. I found it to be a pitiful offer but accepted it anyway. Then the second night an elderly gentleman knocked on our door and said he couldn’t find his room and was wondering if we could call front desk as he had issues walking. My husband called front desk and asked if they could get his room number and come help him. They said they would then called us back a few minutes later and said no we had to bring him to the front desk. So my husband brings him to the desk to find his room and goes out to our vehicle , when he gets back the elderly gentleman is in the hallway still unable to find his room so my husband walked him there and made sure he got in ok. Then at checkout when asking about the refund they said they weren’t able to make any refund but that next time we visit we can have a room at a discounted price. We will not return and all the staff were very unhelpful especially management. Shout out to the maintenance worker though, he was the only one who apologized for the issues and genuinely felt bad about everything that was happening. Thank you to him for being the only decent person the whole stay.
