You have to pay for parking at the store. I was looking for some passed biking shorts, and a lot of them were missing labels. The checkout line at the exit was 25 people drop. Not sure of I’m coming back! They did have some good sales on mountain bikes. Too bad — I just paid two grand for a fancy single speed at the bike and brew. A much better atmosphere at that store. Plus you can get an espresso before you start shopping. MEC is like a Walmart. Cheaper prices — no soul.
We went to the talk about bear safety hosted by Ophelia. It was amazing and really interesting. She is very knowledgeable. We learned so much. She answered all our questions. She taught us how to do a bear hang. It was a great experience. The store is also great, we got everything we needed for our hike.
Shout out to Devon in the climbing shoe department for going back and forth multiple times to check for shoe sizes and walking me through different options. Super great help with going through more aggressive shoes and soft/stiff shoe types. Sometimes I’ve felt rushed in the past with climbing shoes so it was nice having a great experience! He even went through the clearance section to see if he could find a good fit for me.nnAlso shout out to the customer service team when I realized too late that my email was wrong and I wasn’t getting receipts. It’s all sorted now and they were really efficient!
Mountain Equipment Coop MEC is one of my favorite outdoor equipment and gears stores.nnThey have pretty well anything you need for outdoor activities: Hiking, Biking, Water sport, climbing, traveling, backpacks, shoes, clothing, etc. good selections of stuffs and sizes. I love their MEC brand products as well, good quality and functional in design. Our family pretty well grew up with MEC products.nKnowledgeable and helpful staff!nnIt used to be Canadian company, but not anymore. Still happy and grateful that the MEC brand and stores exist.nnLove to look around and shop there. Good clearance deals as well as they switch out seasonal items from time to time.nHighly recommended!
Ophelia at the Calgary location was a superb help in choosing the right back pack. I thought all were the same and she ensured I knew how to fit it properly and select the most appropriate one. Which ended up being the lesser expensive option too! Thank you, Ophelia.
