You have to pay for parking at the store. I was looking for some passed biking shorts, and a lot of them were missing labels. The checkout line at the exit was 25 people drop. Not sure of I’m coming back! They did have some good sales on mountain bikes. Too bad — I just paid two grand for a fancy single speed at the bike and brew. A much better atmosphere at that store. Plus you can get an espresso before you start shopping. MEC is like a Walmart. Cheaper prices — no soul.
Mountain Equipment Coop MEC is one of my favorite outdoor equipment and gears stores.nnThey have pretty well anything you need for outdoor activities: Hiking, Biking, Water sport, climbing, traveling, backpacks, shoes, clothing, etc. good selections of stuffs and sizes. I love their MEC brand products as well, good quality and functional in design. Our family pretty well grew up with MEC products.nKnowledgeable and helpful staff!nnIt used to be Canadian company, but not anymore. Still happy and grateful that the MEC brand and stores exist.nnLove to look around and shop there. Good clearance deals as well as they switch out seasonal items from time to time.nHighly recommended!
The best customer service in town - not just in bike and outdoorsy shops - i mean overall. The thing that sets MEC's excellent customer service staff apart is CONSISTENCY. I've had outstanding service from other businesses in town, but its always hit or miss, not at MEC. Because literally, every single time i've gone to MEC, the Bike Shop staff in particular, has been exceptional. Super helpful, transparent, and fair. Props to everyone.
Best store for outdoor gear supply. For the most part price is reasonable and the customer service is awesome.
Inconsistent pricing on products. On one occasion, I went to buy bindings and the display tag had a sale price and when it was rung in, a higher price came up. They argued that the sale was over. Then remove the sale price!nnMore recently, I went to buy plates and the till price was five dollars higher. Then they had stock of the same item with a price four folks higher. They argued that the low price was the “US price” even though that tag clearly said “MEC SKU” on it.nnA year ago. There wasn’t price on anything!nnTheir inability to be consistent plus their almost combative customer service when issues arise make MEC one of the last places to look when I need gear. No wonder they are always in financial trouble.
