We stayed 7 nights & enjoyed all of amenities they had to offer. The spots are mostly level & very nicely spaced & shaded. The hosts & staff were great as well. Very quiet & peaceful spot but close enough to town.
My family and I love it here! Campground is clean and accommodation for many activities. Owners and staff are polite and cortious to guest. Best campground in the KOA franchise.
We are not fans of large commercialized campgrounds. A recent trip to Asheville, NC reinforced this dislike. KOA Journey is definitely an exception to this rule. The facility was really nice and the staff super friendly. If you are going to be in the Meadville area I recommend staying at this campground.
I wouldn’t not stay here but….. it’s not my favorite either. We just stayed here august 28th-31st 2022. So when we booked on the web site it said one spot remaining. That was hilarious we were the only ones here for three days. A KOA Journey’s amenities should be open past 5:00pm/7pm, jump pad, game room, pool, Laundry hours are insanely short. We are use to our hometown koa Madison pa where laundry and game room are open 24 hrs. It is gated. You need a $10 cash deposit for a key. During the day the staff is very visible zooming on golf carts. Dog park is a nice decent size. Non sewer Campsites are like double lots with mature trees, awesome if you have a dog. But scary to be in a pop up under the trees in the storm we experienced. A lot are dead. Pine needles suck and cover everything. The bathroom is horrible. I complained about it 6yrs ago last time we were here and they are still 100% the same. The showers have no pressure, very small. you cannot control the temperature. The ladies has 3 toilet stalls, and 2 shower stalls. Busy weekends be prepared for a little wait. Showers are a push button that you have to keep pushing every 10 seconds so it stays running a bit of a pain when my daughter isn't strong enough to do it herself I got soaked. The pond is a fishing only spot no swimming. Kids caught a ton of fish, and loved the boats. The pool is along the main road that is quite busy and noisy. It would be nice to see them plant some tall grass to seclude it or something. The pool seems to always be cold no matter when I have been here. Says it’s heated but definitely not. There is also a nice playground up there. All of the amenities are a hike away from the campsites. Internet sucks. We had two rainy days and school work we needed to do. Made it extremely hard. Constantly disconnects you. I want to like this place more than I do. It’s 2 hours from us but closest and basically only one near my in-laws. It’s a business and run like a corporate business. Which is good and bad. No riff-raff. It’s quiet. Two pages of rules. But they seem to pocket the profits and put minimal back in.
We have stayed at this campground while traveling and visiting family in the local area. However, when I attempted to make a reservation for a single night as we were scheduling passing through, they informed me I could only make a TWO NIGHT reservation, not just one. They cited KOA as the policy maker. It causes us to forego our visit entirely and makes me wonder whether KOA is actually a company I want to continue doing business with. Many of us cannot accommodate two night requirements when we are on a pre-determined travel schedule. Caution is advised.
Has the potential to be a five star. 1 mini golf is non existent. 2. I understand that pools have break downs but when it has a projected back in service date a week after our stay, it would have been nice to know when booking . 3. A KOA Holiday's aminitys should be open past 6:00pm, IE jump pad, and game room. 4. Laundry hours are a little short, same as office hours. Campsites are nice with lots of room to roam, and most sites are well shaded.
We discovered this campground over 10 years ago and it's one of our favorites. The new owners are top notch and are doing an excellent job of keeping the campground in great shape. We were pleasantly surprised this trip to find that the activities for the kids are all included with the stay now. We'll be going back again and again.
We have stayed here several times over the years to visit family. This year there was new management or rather, micro-management. While the setting is still the same with the great playgrounds quiet beautiful ponds, the stay was anything but peaceful. We watched and found ourselves being constantly scolded by staff members on golf carts monitoring arbitrary "infractions". My elderly grandmother, with a broken toe, was made to walk across the facility in order to move her car from one empty parking lot to another empty parking lot. They had a special father's day breakfast but no signage so we watched as several clients were actually kicked out of the area because they were not fathers. This was compounded by the fact that at any given time at least three toilets were clogged in the bathroom and our cabin had a serious carpenter bee infestation. The latter caused constant sawdust to sprinkle us from above and at some point staff came and put in another trap but in doing so left cigarette butts littered around our cabin. Usually our visits are so relaxing and peaceful but thanks to the golfcart police we were all on edge. We will be taking our business elsewhere and if you value privacy and peace we suggest you do too.
Very nice, well maintained campground. Large sites. Owners are very nice to talk to. Would stay again if in the area.Service: 5/5
It's only our second trip out with our camper however I can say these guys have set the bar pretty high for other sites to meet. The staff is extremely friendly and outgoing. The layout is conveniently configured to allow every site easy access to amenities that are offered. The fishing ponds are very nice and well stocked with Bluegill. Cant think of a had thing to say about the place. We will definitely be back.
