Great not so little place! I was surprised how far back this well appointed spot goes. Lots of room to move around, and the serving staff were so efficient! The place was pretty busy, but they held it down. The food was delicious and very generous portions. Walking out after a nice meal to take in the awesome town of Haliburton was the perfect ending
We came to Haliburton with no expectations for a good place to grab dinner and oh boy, how foolish we were to assume that! McKeck’s had an amazing vibe, super friendly staff, great quality food…and clean washrooms to boot! If you’re looking for solid grill food and beer, this is worth the trek from anywhere in the region
My husband and I enjoyed appy hour, drinks and mains. We loved everything that was served to us, the service was fast, friendly and professional. I'm vegan and they were knowledgeable about my dietary needs. The craft beer I enjoyed was like dessert in a cup. I could rave about this place all day. A three hour drive for us, but we'll see you next time we're coming through! Ps. The portions are huge!! Vegetarian options: You don't feel like you're missing out or a second thought! Parking: Street parking Dietary restrictions: Vegan and gluten free options available
The only good thing I can say about McKecks is pizza was delicious. Was going to give them two stars because of the pizza, but can’t do it. Showed up on a Sunday night, place wasn’t too busy at the time. Waited at the desk to be seated but had to flag someone down after waiting 10 minutes. After getting seated we waited at least ten minutes for a server. We ordered drinks and dinner at the same time. My pizza and my wife’s burger showed up after about 35 minutes. Like I said, pizza was delicious, my wife’s burger was OK, but the fries were bottom of the fryer, hard, small bits see picture. After I ate half my pizza and my wife ate the burger only, we waited another 30 minutes for the server to come by. In and out in over two hours. In spite of all this, we were going to order takeout the next night as options in Haliburton on a holiday Monday are limited. They do not answer their phone, refer you to a website to order online that doesn’t work. We have been coming to Haliburton for over 30 years and will never go back to McKecks again. Place has gone downhill since Walt sold.
A great spot in Haliburton with something for everyone. Very friendly staff who are also good with kids. Great selection of craft beers on tap. Menu has all the pub classics and a few specialties. I had the "Blue Line" burger which includes sauteed onions & blue cheese, my husband had fish & chips and the kids had chicken fingers. Everything seems to be made in-house from fresh ingredients. Due to Covid, there was a bit of a wait for a table even on a Wednesday night and staff were working hard to keep up with demand. My burger was slightly overdone, but everything else was great. An overall great experience. My daughter wants to go back again next week!
Pros: food was great/fresh/well presented, large menu, inside was really cozy/nicely decorated, staff were friendly Cons: understaffed so service was slowww, a little more expensive that I would have liked, restaurant located on second floor difficult for people with mobility issues Overall looking forward to making this a regular stop.
Pros: Really good food and beautiful ambiance. We were in the area for hockey, and Walt came out to talk to the kids. That was incredible. Cons: The staff were unwelcoming and seemed annoyed by basic requests and the restaurant was not busy or understaffed- I would empathize if that was the case
Seated by the fireplace, we had the salmon and garden burger respectively. Both were cooked to perfection in every detail and filled with flavors. Would recommend and will be back again.
Great local restaurant. They have a variety of food options from more casual to more formal. The atmosphere would work great for a nicer lunch or dinner with friends or a casual drop in for a beer. Food quality is great for the priceFood: 5/5
Havarti Beef dip was delicious. And Caesar Salad was mixed to perfection. Service was great! Cade sorry if it's Kade was very personable and welcoming. Food came out prompt. Parking: There are many places to park in Haliburton. I would suggest Foodland during the off season months for easy accessibility, of course there are parking spots aside the sidewalk of the entrance. there is a whole parking lot at the lakeside and tons of space for summertime. harder accessible in the Winter.because there are no stairs anymore going up to the sidewalk etc.. Wheelchair accessibility: This is the restaurants biggest lack and I wish there was a way but it would be super expensive and would take away their barn space.
