Story

One can never underestimate the healing role of a funeral, memorial service or Celebration of Life. It brings comfort to family and friends alike and offers a shared experience for those gathered to honour a life lived. McCall’s has been serving families in the Victoria region for four generations, providing caring, personalized assistance. Every life is unique, and we provide the options and customizable services that people want today, and that only a privately owned family business can offer. The McCall family and staff are proud to have served families in Greater Victoria for over 95 years.

McCall Gardens: With our new name and facility at Falaise Drive in Saanich, BC, comes an evolution in the way we serve the community. Our long-standing facility on Vancouver Street in downtown Victoria is now closed, and we have opened a new downtown service office to continue to assist clients in the planning of funeral arrangements. This new office is located at 1315 Cook Street, between Johnson Street and Yates Street. The primary location for funerals, memorial services and Celebrations of Life is located at 4665 Falaise Drive, next to the Royal Oak Burial Park, in Saanich, BC.

Finally getting around to leaving this review. Not only is the building beautiful, the staff went above and beyond during such a hard time My grandfather passed over 2 years ago and this is where we said our final goodbye. One quirk about my grandfather was how he stole pens from almost every business he went to. So I really wanted a pen from the last place he would visit. I asked staff for one, and initially they couldn’t find one. After awhile we left, and a member of staff came running out of the building with a pen for me. This person could’ve seen this as a very silly request, but instead they had the empathy to understand how much that small gesture meant to me in my time of grieving. I’m using that pen today to write in the baby book of my grandpa’s first great grandchild. Thank you so much to everyone there for being so lovely.
Thank you to both the staff that were extremely helpful putting together a lovely memorial service for my parents as well as the staff responsible for the wonderful presentation of the fruit, sandwiches and dessert items. Everyone involved helped enormously during such a emotionally taxing time.

I think this is one of the most prestigious and well operate funeral house. I amazed with their snacks, for a funeral house they served very delicious snacks.
With grace, McCalls helped us navigate the most difficult time of our lives. Staff were gentle with my grieving family. They were so helpful from the first phone call to the finalizing documents for the estate. Forever grateful
I don't write reviews often. I have to be really impressed to do so. In this case, it is absolutely my pleasure to recommend McCall Gardens - Sequoia Centre. From our first email contact asking for preliminary information, we were treated with the utmost kindness, respect, and compassion. Truly a first class service. Dealing with Trevor McCall and his staff was amazing. They all seem to have a "can do" attitude, and all the time in the world to answer questions. There were a few things that we enquired about where the answer was: "well, we haven't done that before, but I'm sure we can make it work." And they did. Their "after care" service where they walk you through the paperwork/government forms that you have to deal with after a death is excellent and made this part of the process bearable and efficient. The venue itself was the most un-funeral home like place I have ever visited. It is bright and modern with beautiful gardens out the back. We held a celebration of life for mom and all of the details were attended to with care by Trevor and his staff, including fantastic food and beverage service, and technical support i.e. they made us a Spotify playlist for the event with mom's favorite songs, and accommodated our request to have family members play the piano/sing. We also received a video of the event, which was a nice touch, and very much appreciated. I would recommend this family-run business without hesitation. Trevor and team: thank you so much.
With much appreciation, we would like to thank Trevor and his staff for the professional expertise and kind guidance provided to our family at our beloved mother's memorial service. The venue is beautifully appointed with a most comforting atmosphere. I will promote your service to others with a recommendation whenever the opportunity arises.
My family cannot say enough about the service we received from McCall Gardens. The staff were genuinely compassionate and patient helping us as we made our decisions. The facilities were absolutely stunning yet gave us such peace. Thank you again everyone at McCalls!!
We hosted a Memorial Reception for both our aunt and uncle at the Sequoia Centre and everything was perfect - the food, the atmosphere and the location. It was an informal event - they didn't want a formal service, so it was more of a celebration of life. We were able to bury the urn at the Royal Oak Cemetery next door immediately after the gathering. Dean was a great host.
