Walked in and the smell of the place took me back to my childhood. It smelled like my grandma's house, like something cooking, a sort of canteen. The service was absolutely great. The food was amazing as well. Loved the pizza crust. They make some serious sourdough that I was able to take home. Thank you for the hospitality.
Loved this place : Excellent service and atmosphere, is small but cozy, great music and the food was amazing. Delicious salad, perfect pizza, I didn’t like the cannoli much because is fried, but the butter tarts are amazing, usually I don’t eat them because are too sweet but this one was just perfect. People didn’t stop coming in , getting coffee, desserts and bread. Can’t wait to come back!
Really good wood fired pizza. Could've been more toppings but the variety of the pizzas and the quality of the toppings are top notch. Sardines have excellent flavor.
This is a really underrated restaurant in a sea of Toronto/GTA restaurants that do awful things, like serve you salads with flavourless tomatoes that have the colour of pale onions. Mattachioni was the exact opposite of that. Now, I've worked in the food industry with two different Italian food importers and my standards are kind of up there, so.. you can probably ignore maybe the strange way I might word things which are based on my past experiences. But, this eatery really nails the execution on Italian cuisine. I've been to other Italian restaurants at right around this price range receiving the same ratings as Mattachioni, but they are overhyped - the other guys have pizzas that are undercooked, flavourless, surprisingly low-quality ingredients, or just no real passion for the style of cuisine being served. Everything here was amazing, I think it's the perfect place to visit every weekend for a nice meal and the perfect place to take a first date. The food was absolutely delicious and it's very clear the staff are talented and the chefs are nailing the execution. The ingredient quality was very fine and everything was fresh. The bresaola was delicious - the quality of the meat, the way everything combined together was great. The baked black olives on the Carlo & Giulia pizza were great - these were very good black olives. The Saturday Salad was thrown together very well, and it seemed to me at least that the chefs actually cared enough to throw the ingredients together in the right order just before serving them so that the bread would not get soggy with the rest of the salad. The whole thing felt like somebody actually wanted to bring the dining experience of going to or living in Italy to Toronto. It's about time!!
I wished I lived closer to a Mattachioni coz I'd eat my every meal at this amazing restaurant. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and my friend and I had a wonderful time. Tried the porchetta, their specials pesto pizza topped with prosciutto and tiramisu. I'm a big fan of their peperoncino hope I spelled this right Will definitely go back to try their other offerings!
Found another gem in the neighbourhood! It all started with their Margherita pizza, then they made a place in my heart with their peperoncini percorino scones. Everything else I’ve tried has been dee-lish-us and still so many more scrumptious treats to get to on their menu - I’m just trying to pace myself bc it’s easy for me to get carried away in there! The bakers and chefs here are truly gifted and I can taste that they love what they do… tutti bene! Check out these treats I snapped pics of: a Margherita pizza, peperoncini pecorino scone, a tomato focaccia and a butter tart. Shout out to the folks at Classic Juice Co. for putting me on.
Come for the pizza, stay for a second pizza. The vibe is great, the pizza is great, the salad is also great. Cute neighbourhood spot, intimate, friendly. Good simple cocktails and good service. Also they make great bread and foccacia for take-away.
Looks like a friendly little restaurant, which it is, but with amazing food! Excellent quality ingredients, very relaxing atmosphere and friendly staff. Can't wait to go back.
This is one of my favourite restaurants in Toronto. So far I've tried from their menu the prosciutto panini comes with fresh mozzarella, grape tomatoes, arugula, red wine vinegar, and prosciutto crudo on sourdough, the panino salmone affumicato comes with smoked salmon, mascarpone, lemon, arugula, capers, and pickled red onion on sourdough, and the napoli pizza comes with tomato, fresh mozzarella, marinated olives, sicilian anchovies, and basil. While the prosciutto panini is my favourite, everything I've had here tasted absolutely delicious. The portions are large and the ingredients that they use are clearly fresh. All of the staff members that I've interacted with are incredibly friendly. I intend to come back here many times in the future to try other items on the menu. I highly recommend Mattachioni.
Very good food, good price, excellent value. Tiramisu biscuit was a bit dry, pizza was amazing
