This place is small but great for take out! It is located in Bath by BIW, right near the bridge. Parking is minimal. The tacos are fantastic, not authentic but close enough. The service is reasonable, prices are fair about $3 per taco and the staff are very friendly! There is limited seating, maybe 6 people can snuggly fit inside. No restrooms, can/bottled beverages and nice size menu. They take cash and platic. I come here whenever I pass through Bath - this place is a must try :
Sorry but this is weak and over priced. No meat in burrito bowl and no flavor to rice just plain over cooked white rice. Also pretty sure this guacamole is just gross bagged avocado. Also corn chips are just store bought nothing special. And again why no meat? I see like some shredded chicken but barely and tough and not flavorful. It's pretty bad when you need to stop eating to give a bad review. Please step it up baths food is weak.
If I could leave zero stars I would. I was very disappointed at the amount of meat they put in their food. It's all filler. I've been there 3 times and every time, no matter what I ordered, it was the same thing, lots of extras but no meat. For the amount they charge the quality of their cuisine should not be in question. Needless to say they've lost a potentially loyal customer.
Terrific little hole-in-the-wall eatery in downtown Bath. Just off the main drag, two guys making great burritos! They say they have been open 11 years. I never stop in Bath, just pass through on Route 1. We we're delighted to have found this place. Super fast, really nice guys to chat with, great tasting food. It's tiny. You've got about enough room to order and turn around to wait outside. 80% of the space is taken up by the long, narrow kitchen. The place is about 8' wide and 40'' long. However, you only get to stand/order/sit in an 8X8 area. Three tiny tables jammed in front of the street-side window and a bottled-drink cooler take up most of the remaining space. This is delicious, no frills dining.
Wonderful service and food. I'm from New Mexico, and their of selection salsas and the pinto beans reminded of home. Loved the atmosphere, too!Food: 5/5
It's a bit over priced. 2 burritos for $20. I had the vegetarian with peppers and onions , paid extra for guacamole.. 98% of it was beans and rice. It was good but I am disappointed as I wanted to taste the veggies and guac. All I could taste and see were beans and overcooked rice... Was also too salty.. Sorry but I was mislead by the reviews.
What a Disappointment! I Had read mostly 4 reviews! AND I read the Good and the Bad reviews!! The Food Was Soo VERY Overpriced and Unimpressive! The Bright Orange paint on the walls inside seemed to be Inviting in an Otherwise Darker part of Intown Bath. AND...of course... I was STARVING!! LoL Instantly Walking in .. I smelled Delicious Familiar Mexican food Smells!! ...This is good! I Ordered two , a Burrito and a quesadilla With NO extras .. My Total = $36.00!! Holy cow! that's a lot for a quick, Greasy, take out meal for two! Over $40.00Don't Forget..There's a Tip Jar! I ordered the Burrito with"lite rice" And.. They made it EXACTLY OPPOSITE! .. I found I think Two small pieces of chicken in the WHOLE 4 POUND Burrito I Got!! seriously guy's? The Tacos were Forgetable! The Queseodilla .. Was LOADED with Chicken and !! Thank you guys! I thought I was gonna starve.. Till I pulled that Little Slice of shiney Tinfoil covered HEAVEN out of the Tiny , 4lb ,Brown paper bag! .. So.. If you decide to get takeout here.. Be sure you Order it.. The way you DON'T want it!! Unfortunately My Overall opinion is that it's got Great Potential! The spice's are tasty, ...The food itself is not Awful.. But, there's no authentic FEEL to the Food and it's VERY Overpriced! $11.00 for spice's and Rice in a is CRAZY to me If they are still OPEN in Two Years.. I MIGHT see if their food has Evolved
When you dream of burritos, you dream of Mateo's. This is the sort of hole-in-the-wall that you want to find. Excellent burritos.
I love their burritos. Super tasty, lots of options. Leaves you full for sure. Plus the specials can be unique and tasty. If you compare pricing to other food vendors that serve the same food in the area, it's not far off. Mateo's is not too expensive. I go here throughout the year. Probably at least once a month.
Options are limited around here, but this was a miss. Pork was beyond bland. The "all of pepper" labeled "hottest" salsa barely registers a medium and would frankly be a mild elsewhere in the country. When I was clearly disappointed by the lack of heat, the staff was at least willing to give me another salsa, suggesting the ghost, which was also a medium at best, although the flavor combination at least somewhat salvaged the meal. Taco the Town has a ghost salsa that still isn't fiery but is at least closer to hot. El Rodeo also has a decent above-medium "hot salsa" you can request instead of the regular. End of the day, if you're looking for a punch of heat and flavor, brace yourself for a let down.
