I’ve had Mary Brows plenty of time in Toronto but this was my first time trying it in Ottawa. We walked in during a storm and to my surprise other people had the same idea to get some comfort food. Placed a large order for take out, they advised it would be 15-20 min but it was ready to go in 10 mins. Sweet Thai chicken poppers will always be my favourite! They aren’t always on the menu so you have to ask. The gravy, coleslaw, fries and biscuits were all delicious. The best part of their true chicken is that it isn’t too oily nor is it too salty. It’s delicious! Overall, everyone enjoyed it including the children.
Great customer service and clean environment. Very quick service and decent price for the food. The Spicy Big Mary and the Nashville Burger is pretty good. Also the money dill sauce really good with fries, it's kinda sweet & salty, their spicy mayo is good too. Over all it was pretty good must try.Food: 5/5
The staff is amazing. Friendly, and courteous! I got take out. It was a bit of a wait because I had a large order, and it was the dinner rush. That is to be expected. But it was SO worth it! Best chicken, fries, and that corn salad should be available year round!!! Keep up the great work
Although it's been over a month since I've been in this location, I've been in twice dinner time since it opened. I ordered at the counter and not on-line. The service staff were quite pleasant and there were no issues with either of my orders regarding ease of ordering, speed of service, quality of food, missing items, etc. Each time the restaurant was somewhat busy but not overcrowded. Both orders were for take out. The restaurant seemed quite clean. I've seen none of the issues that the folks who've left negative reviews experienced but should I experience such in the future, I'll certainly let it be known but for now, I'll go back to this location as it's more convenient than the Orleans Garden location.
My family and I were SO excited to finally try Mary Brown's, we had heard great things about the food. I scheduled my order almost 50 minutes before my pickup time. I scheduled it so I could pick it up between picking up my kids from their after-school activities, with a bit of wiggle room just in case the food wasn't ready on time. Imagine my disappointment when my son and I showed up and was told that my food was nowhere close to being ready. I wasn't happy, but I was promised it would be ready when I returned from picking up my little girl, 30 minutes later. I returned with both my kids in tow, only to be told that my food STILL wasn't ready, almost 1 hour and 20 minutes after I placed my order. I asked for a refund and was given a meaningless apology. No attempt was made to correct the situation, so my children and I left empty-handed. Very disappointing, especially for someone who has worked is the foodservice industry for almost two decades. This was my first and last time ordering from Mary Brown's. The app said the food would be ready 15 minutes after ordering, which was shown to be a blatant lie. What a waste of time, and poor customer service.
Amazing!! Amazing amazing amazing staff and food!! The food I ordered was just fantastic, very tasty and clean! The supervisor was very nice and even offered candy canes and treats to my little ones! We felt very comfortable dining in as the place was spot on clean and neat. Thank you and we will be back again for sure!
Delicious fried chicken. The meat was tender and juicy. Cooked to perfection. The batter was crispy and golden. The tatters were tasty. The service was prompt and courteous. The prices reasonable. Totally recommended if you're up for a fast delicious mealFood: 5/5
We've been to a couple of other locations but this one is by far the best. Ordered online was ready when we arrived to pick up, still pipping hot and delicious when we sat to eat. It's always well cooked and their pop-ins are perfect.
Not sure if someone called in sick or if it was new staff, but I put in a mobile order at 1241 and after getting there at 1255, there was a lineup of 5-6 people waiting to be served and 3 people waiting on their orders. I stood at the sign where pickups were. After the gentleman at the front took a few orders, I then asked about my order and was told it was coming up soon. Previously I did the same and my order was waiting in a little box, so I thought maybe they had it ready. My best guess is they were too busy with the physical orders that they didn't see my order until a bit later, because people who ordered after I showed up received their orders before I did. Got my order 25 minutes after ordering, it was very good as usual, which is where the 3 stars come in. The food is good but there needs to be a better system; cook should've been taking orders as well so could do more than one order at a time, or there should have been more staff on, especially next to a high school at lunch time.
I'm going to try to take some time to echo what others have said in their reviews, but the short version is: do not visit this restaurant, do not order from this restaurant, do not recommend this restaurant. Mary Brown's is great, this restaurant is not. From the time that MB had opened in Ottawa, with the first location in Kanata, I had eaten there no less than 50 times. Kanata, Carling Ave, Orléans Blvd and now this location. Every time I had gone there, I was satisfied. Occasionally there were times when the chicken was cooked a bit tooicj, or the sauce I asked for was replaced with something else; all acceptable errors. Last night when I had ordered from this restaurant, I asked for half Reg-half spicy, and got no spicy. I asked for coleslaw and got macaroni salad. The service was in disarray and the employees didn't know where my order was, the chicken was salted WAY too much, and in addition was hard to chew due to being cooked so thoroughly. For the first time since learning of Mary Brown's and enjoying their food, I have come to recommend not visiting one of their locations, and this is it.
