Mary Brown's Famous Chicken and Taters!

Love the friendly staff as they are kind and thoughtful. Told them I was a veteran and was offered a 10% discount. This would be a great added feature for their business as an add on for all first responders and military alike.

This is an everything-fried-chicken store. It’s just like Popeyes or KFC, except those two are better. The fried chicken at Mary Brown’s tasted so-so, in my opinion; it‘s like supermarket fried chicken. And the gravy that came with it tasted a bit more like soy sauce. And they’re overpriced! The 2-piece fried chicken meal with a drink and a coleslaw is $9.99. And even when you order more, like a bucket or something to share (like we did), the price does not get better. Service was just ok. The only good things I can say are: (1) They have malt vinegar packets; (2) They put your meal in what seems to be a sturdy brown bag, if you order takeout. The dining area is small and not well-designed for enjoying a nice meal. There were only 3 tables (two of them were unstable and wobbled), each with 4 tables. Then there’s a slim, long window table that can sit 6. And since it’s a short walk from the door to the counter, customers make a beeline right next to you while you eat. You’re better off ordering takeout if you want Mary Brown’s fried chicken. There are two generic restrooms. There’s parking in front.

Essentially take KFC, remove most of the grease, simplify the spices, and make the chicken actually crispy, all for like half the price. I regret not going sooner. My only nitpick is their Mac n cheese salad is just macaroni salad. Elbow noodles does not a Mac n cheese make.
