Mangia Wine Bar

Great place for classy Italian food and pizza with superb service. Helpful hosts and table staff. PS: unfortunately, Mangia has closed. Greatly missed.

Went here for a few drinks on a cold night. It was quiet and empty when we arrived. But bartender was friendly, the beer list was good, and prices were fair. Would go back to try some food if I'm in the area.

While the food was decent, the service was underwhelming for a restaurant at this price point. It took 15 min for the waitress to bring my bottle of beer. Our group of 5 was brought one very small bread plate and then our waitress didn't return for over 25 min which was 5 minutes after someone else had delivered everyone's food but mine. I asked where my food was and she left to go check and never came back herself the remaining 30 minutes our group was there. What I am assuming was a manager came over and told me that our waitress forgot to put in my food and they would make it now no offer for anything while I waited. Someone at our table asked if I could have more bread while I waited and they did accommodate this. Finally 15 min later after everyone else was done eating she showed back up with my food. We had been there over an hour and all of our drinks were empty and no one had offered refills up to this point. I mentioned this to the manager and she walked away and sent a new waiter over. I ended up having to leave before our check came but we were not offered any accommodations for the inconvenience and their mistake. Even just an offer of a salad while I waited, or a drink or free desert. Instead the manager was barely apologetic only offering that the meal would come out faster if I allowed them to make it with a different type of pasta. I can overlook mistakes but will not be returning due to the poor service.

While it seems like other finer dining places in downtown Kenosha are drawing attention (we couldn't get a table on a Saturday night at several places, while we were sat here in 5 min.), Mangia continues to be one of my favorite modern dining options around. The food is consistently fantastic, the ingredients are fresh, and the chef is always putting them together in unexpected and wonderful ways. The menu has it's long-time choices, but it's also unique enough that I've never had the same meal twice. They have a fantastic wine selection that regularly impresses, although they could spend a little more time in curating the bottles and training staff on how to select/recommend.
