Restaurant at the Mackenzie Hotel: Decent Food, Limited HoursnnThis restaurant, located in the Mackenzie Hotel in Inuvik, offers a limited menu typical of the area, with prices that reflect the higher cost of goods and food in the region.nnI tried the New York striploin steak, and while the meat quality was good and paired with tasty gravy, it was over-seasoned with salt and pepper. Additionally, I requested it cooked medium, but it came out medium-well. Despite these hiccups, it was still a satisfying meal overall.nnThe biggest downside is the restaurant’s operating hours. If you’re craving a late-night snack or an early-morning meal, you’ll likely have to look elsewhere.nnWhile it’s a convenient option for guests at the hotel, the limited menu and inconsistent hours might leave some diners looking for alternatives.
My family and I enjoyed a few meals at Mamaqtuq. Each meal was delicious and nicely presented. The restaurant was very accomodating to kids. Great location, easy to get to and clean interior. Thank you for the hospitality!
Td:dr; server didn’t take my GF order seriously, and when corrected served me the same food anyways and caused me to be ill.nnI am gluten intolerant and ordered a gluten free steak sandwich - which does have “GF” listed on the menu. When the food came out it had deep fried floured onions on top. I sent it back. He returned a minute or two later, the onions were scrapped off the top. He was surprised I still couldn’t eat it and was offended I’d ask for it to be remade. The server told me he “thought it would be fine since it’s on bread anyways”. I asked if it was gluten free bread, he went to the back and came out with a different sandwich, no fries or side with it and assured me it was a new piece of meat. It clearly wasn’t because I was sick as a dog the whole night afterwards. The picture below is what I ended up paying almost $40 for only the sandwich. Also now that I look at the image, they clearly used the same plate because it has the salt from the fries on it still ‍nnTo be clear, I sent a private message to the business Facebook account asking if the manager could contact me - ignoring food allergies at a food establishment is really serious - and was left on read. Super disappointing and dangerous for anyone who has food allergies.
Came here for breakfast. The service was great, the food was amazing breakfast sandwich could be slightly larger at the price point. The coffee was hot! All around a great experience. Thanks for the great start to the morning I couldn't get at Capital Suites.
Interesting things on the menu, unfortunately they didn't have them available. The facility itself was clean and nicely decorated. Service was good. I felt sorry for the server having to come back repeatedly to tell us things we ordered weren't available.
