On our way to Quebec City, we stopped by the Malobiannah Tourist Information Centre in Grand Falls for a quick break, and it turned out to be a great experience. Even though it was a very dry day when we visited, the view of the falls was still really good. I can only imagine how much more impressive it would be after some rain! That said, I have no complaints about the view at all—it was stunning with beautiful scenery and interesting rock formations, perfect for photos.nnThere was plenty of parking, which made the stop super convenient. The staff were incredibly friendly and guided us through the building, which felt like a small museum. We were led to amazing views from the windows and explored the interpretive center, where we learned about the importance of the dam and the river. It was very interactive and engaging. They even had an Olympic torch from the 2009 Vancouver Olympics, which was a surprising but cool addition!nnWe finished our visit by heading downstairs to the gift shop and picked up a nice souvenir cup. There were also clean washrooms available. Overall, it was a nice, relaxing stop with a lot to take in.
First a complaint about Google Maps, if you locate Grand Falls it will navigate you to the building material supermarket in the town.nYou can only get to the attraction if you locate the visitor center.nIt's not a big place, but there are two visitor centers.nI didn't see any spectacular waterfalls when I was there in August, the gates were closed and there wasn't much water.nThere is also very little water in the canyon.nThe trails are mostly closed because of the construction work here.nIn the other center, there is a walkway to the rocks below the water's edge, but since the reservoir is not drained, there's not much to see.nTickets are $5 per adult.nI recommend checking the local website before you go. Don't be like me and not make it in time.
This was a late afternoon visit in the day's plan and it was just a wonderful scene to behold! The way the place was naturally made, thank you Lord It's free to visit; there's a boutique to buy souvenir items; the restrooms are clean; there's just enough parking space; and there's some stores around the area to dine. I strongly recommend this place, include in your travel plan when you're in NB
Awesome view of the Falls. Free too! Lots of parking. I went in the evening, as well as the morning. Angle of the sun makes a difference. See my pics.
Clean bathrooms, friendly staff, beautiful boutique, and breathtaking views of Grand Falls, and Gorge. The water level was low today, but it was still amazing.
