The food here was better than expected. The restaurant itself was small but also cozy, with comfortable booths. The beef bulgogi bibimbap and malado sushi roll were both satisfying. The Korean side dishes were pretty standard. I was a bit disappointed that the yuk jae jang soup was just ok - I found that it lacked flavour compared to other places, on top of the beef being rubbery/ overcooked. It also would have been nice to be served some more tea / given a tea pot for self serve refills, as the tea was quite good in the tiny tea cups. As it's difficult to find good sushi places in the North West end of the city I would definitely return next time I'm in the mood for sushi. And to try more dishes!
Not 5 stars because the cost is so high now. You have to pay premium for a simple bibimbap in a stone pot. I ordered the spicy pork bulgogi and it was good. The spice level was what I expected and thankfully the salad was there with the banchan to even out the heat. Expect to pay $20 or more when ordering per person if you're getting Korean food. The sushi Bento, even on a daily special day, is gonna be over $20 as well. Service was decent for a single server and we didn't wait long for 5 meals. Single person men's washroom was clean and well kept. Nothing fancy. Parking is abundant, but not in front of the restaurant. Parking: You have to park away from the restaurant and walk about 20seconds to get there.
Malado is a hidden gem! Great family owned and friendly staff, Food is always fresh and good quality. Daily specials are a great deal- WED is my fave’ Terryaki chicken over rice, glass noddle, 8 spicy salmon roll, salad, miso soup, 6pc shrimp & veg tempura for $15.99.
Edit from 5 stars to 4 stars: I find that the soups have become inconsistent in content recently. Other than the broth and noodles in both the udon soup and ddukbaeki bulgogi stew, I noticed that the vegetables included in these soups differ each time I order takeout from here. Sometimes there would be bok choy or julienned carrots, or other times none of these and a completely different assortment of vegetables. While I love to eat vegetables, I would prefer if I were to receive the same vegetables every time instead of being surprised, as they do make up a big portion of the soups. - ORIGINAL REVIEW: Before the shutdowns due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I loved going to this restaurant for a dine-in meal. Lovely staff and high quality, delicious, and authentic Korean and Japanese food. Even during lockdown I often find myself ordering from them on DoorDash because their food remains consistently delicious. They don’t skimp on the quality of the little side dishes either. This is a small, maybe irrelevant detail but I also appreciate that they have various types of packaging that perfectly hold their different menu items. It is very satisfying to see on top of how tasty the food is!!! I will continue to be a loyal customer to this amazing local restaurant. I highly recommend the Chicken Katsu, Ddukbaeki Bulgogi Stew, and Tempura Udon Soup.
Great food and amazing service. Would recommend to anyone in or even around the area.
We've been to Malado Restaurant so many times, I brought my family and friends here because the food so good and authentic Korean. The best Gamjatang I ever tasted and the food felt home made for me. The staff are accommodating and helpful and it makes them smile when you greet them in Korean. They have great menu to try so try it out if you're craving for Korean food. Parking: There are ample place to park
This is only half of what I got I ate my sushi lol But it was very delicious now I know where to go when I need sushi this place is very recommendable It tasted amazing
It’s a hidden but good restaurant. The food is fresh and the decorations are perfect. The waiter was friendly and supportive. The warm atmosphere is for someone who loves to live slowly and enjoy food with no rush. The price is not cheap but worths money. Highly recommended ! Parking: Massive parking places
Cozy atmosphere, friendly staff. They left me with full pitcher of water and gave me privacy. Though they did volunteer napkins when they heard me blowing my nose. The pork bone soup was very good - heads up it's very rich! The sides were Kimchi, pickled cucumber, pickled radish, and sweet potatoes. Music was a bit loud from where I was sitting. Cost was a bit higher than I expected but the location is great since I'm in the suburbs and didn't have to make it over to either Koreatown. Parking was good. I am curious to try their sushi sometime too.
I would give them a zero rating if Google allows it. It's the worst Korean food experience I've ever had. The service was bad, the food wasn't good, way over priced for smaller than usual portions. It's the first Korean restaurant I been to in Toronto, where they don't offer any side dishes. And on top of all that... tips get added to your bill. But when you pay, your server doesn't mention anything about how it was already added to your total..... So if you weren't paying attention to your bill ... You will end up tipping them twice for bad services
