Jan. 27, 2022 - Maybe you’ve heard it said, “ You can’t please EVERYONE” . . . Owners Sonny & Kim will give it their BEST ! Strange Covid era provided a splendid opportunity to experience this wonderfully new Steak & Oyster restaurant for the 1st time on my birthday as the ONLY customers on a cold windy evening! Kim CEO, Waitress, Bar Tender, Sommelier, and CFO laughed when we mentioned our “ reservation” . . . “no problem, where would you like to sit”? Restaurant decor suggested keen attention to wine, and the local sources of food e.g. shores in the area. . . Eros, Mere Point, and Snow Island which feature the Oyster selections tonight! “It’s my birthday, I was hoping for a sizzling Ribeye steak tonight!” Kim mentioned that she enjoys helping customers pair specific wines with their meal. . . Oh she’s a Sommelier ? Not a certified accredited Sommelier, but she’s learned “abit” over 20 years of ordering wines in her career! We took her suggestion, ordered a full bodied Cab Franc Les Terrages at $44 a bottle . . . Excellent medium dry red wine ! We started off with a mixed seafood appetizer that split 6 large shrimp , $3 each with 3 Mere Point & 3 Snow Island Oysters. Homemade sauces for the shrimp & oysters. . . Cindy really enjoyed the tender, sweet oysters, said the Snow Island offered somewhat saltier oysters than Mere Point. That’s to be expected Then Kim split our salad wedge order for us, brought that next. Fresh, homemade croutons & dressing ! Good, maybe an option of adding fruits, nuts, and different cheeses? But with little or no extra kitchen help . . . only on my wish list? Oh the entree arrived . . . Glad we decided to share this Tomahawk 2 lb. Ribeye ! Cooked medium rare, and the smell of that sizzling steak was going to be worth the $98 price! Look, you want fresh seafood and top quality steaks, on a budget price, this restaurant isn’t for you! Too full for desserts. . . Cindy baked me an pie at home! We’ll have to return for their two signature desserts! Maybe I’ll meet Chef Sonny, thank you for a wonderful birthday Ribeye. Here’s my list of Steak cuts! Tender & Pricey Filet Mignon Ribeye T- Bone New York Strip Flank Flat Iron Chuck / stew meat Hamburger Note: Sommelier French term means an experienced & knowledgeable specialist in selecting specific wines to pair with specific types of food. France started the first school in 1907, to train & teach students to become a Sommelier.
Wow. One of the best dining experiences I've had in YEARS. The food [all four courses including those incredible oysters] was sublime and beautifully prepared, the service impeccable and friendly. Love what they are doing to collaborate with local farmers and fishers and will go back repeatedly I am sure. Great wine list too!!
My wife and I have dined here twice and both times have been nothing short of perfection. The food is prepared as beautiful as it is delicious. You can taste the freshness of the locally sourced ingredients. The service is also a huge part of the experience by providing an excellent pace, recommendations, conversation, and passion for their restaurant. We're excited to go back soon.
Been looking to try this place out for awhile and finally found a good night to go. Food was delicious small menu but still lots of good options to pick from. My wife had the shrimp with risotto and it was delicious, while i had the ribeye which was perfectly cooked and delicious as well really enjoyed the sauce on it. Desert was wonderful as well. Service was very friendly as well. We will definitely head back in the near future.
Insanely expensive, I’ve never paid so much for so little and had it served to me by someone in jeans and a t shirt. 8 choices on the menu. Stark stripped down room with an odd shower curtain entryway. Don’t waste your money.
Exceptional. Husband and wife Team. A handful of tables. Wife is front of the house, husband back of the house. Everything made to order. Oysters, beet salad, and shrimp/risotto were all decadent. Didn’t try the beef but it looked exceptional. The fries looked great also. Fine dining here in casual, but elegant atmosphere. Appropriately sized portions for humans. This is not Cheesecake Factory. And honestly, best oysters I’ve ever had. And I’ve eaten my fair share….
Not as impressed as I thought it would be with this place. From the outside, and presentation there was a lot of class and great appearance but the food did not match the price point. Walking in with the sail cloth barrier for the door we were greeted with a confused hostess and a waiter who were struggling to seat us. It appeared that a lot of people were making reservations for the emptyish restaurant and were able to accommodate us by having a seat at the bar. We were seated, were offered a menu and a great selection of oysters and detailed orientation of verbal specials but nothing written about the specials. When my date asked about the wine by the glass the waiter was well versed on selection, and was able to identify our wine profile but were not able to find anything that pleased us. With this being said, our waiter moved onto his next item but the manager suggested a wine profile that did not match what we were looking for and attempted to up sell us to a half bottle selection that would not work. I was a bit frustrated with my steak selection, a $45 Ribeye that I asked for medium rare that was overcooked and in my opinion worth $23-$30 at best with less than a cup of vegetables and some great mashed potatoes on the side. A third point of frustration I had was a manager I assume who was in a red shirt, and had made the additional wine suggestion from earlier who was also answering phone, taking food out to the front of house was also cooking at the same time and going back and forth between all these tasks with out washing hands or wiping the sweat off himself with a towel and resuming on the tasks. I understand the need to multitask in this world currently, however hygiene is still appreciated and I did not see a hair net as he was working in the open kitchen doing deserts, oysters, picking up the phone and attempting to run the restaurant. Overall, I was not impressed in my opinion with the over priced, under portion sized meals that were presented. I was still hungry afterwards and the deserts offered did not appear to be house made, but bought commercially which was a disappointment.
The steak is perfect and the tuna tartare with wasabi mayo is spectacular
Have gone twice now. The First time was for my Partners Birthday. The Second time was for Our Anniversary. BOTH times we absolutely loved the food. Both owners came to us and asked how everything was. Everyone is so nice and the food is beyond amazing. We love the food and everything is reasonably priced. It's a steak and oyster restaurant. So expect higher prices for higher quality food. It's worth every penny. They have a good wine selection as well. I wish I could give them more than 5 stars.
Absolutely phenomenal! I had steak and frites and it was done perfectly medium rare. So much flavor! My daughter had the most delicious burger. Fried oysters appetizer is a must have if you are here. I’m definitely coming back. Wishing these guys the most success!
