I got the Beef Melt. It was delicious as could be, meat was not dry, the bread was buttery toasted, and the cheese was warm and stringy as cheese usually is, my Girlfriend had gotten the fish and chips, I had to take a bite of it too! Flaky warm fish with light fried batter, so good. And the blueberry pie was beautiful, not to sweet and the patty wasn’t crumbly or undercooked, well done!
Simple but yummy menu, Great food, great service. Inexpensive. Most of the parking lot has been reformed, temporarily due to pandemic protocols I think, into a cute outdoor patio with picnic benches and tables. Not much parking as a result. Definitely a visit while in Stratford.
I had ordered their Veggie Burger, Battered Mushrooms with sour cream, Onion rings, Moza sticks with Marinara and the renowned butter tart peacan. And I am delighted to say that it was all upto my expectations. The butter tarts are earnestly magical! If you're cutting on sugar then stay away, or else be prepared to carry out an extravagant exercise routine the next day, because you won't be able to deprive your mind of the intense pleasure that may linger once you eat these tarts! One cannot have enough! Mushrooms are my favorite but I'd just suggest if they could somehow turn the batter slightly flavorsome or some kind of a marinade on the mushrooms, that would even enhance their taste! Indeed if marinara sauce or sour cream accompanies the same, the experience is certainly elevated. Onion rings are genuinely the second best I've had so far. The burger is really delightful too! Loved the same the most!
Use to go here often when I lived in Stratford and I always enjoyed it. My most recent experience 2 weeks ago wasn't so great. Our waitress had to keep asking if we were the ones who ordered insert part of our order here and $3.25 for coffee that we never got offered a refill on seemed a bit steep for coffee. The person in the kitchen maybe the cook? was actually more helpful and attentive than the waitress. Wish I remembered her name. But the food was good, as always!
Extremely disappointed in our breakfast today. Potatoes were hard as a rock. Very dried out. Flavours of meat were excellent. Sat down and after we got our meal which was reasonably quick never checked on us again till we waved them down. Cook was eating at grill. Compared to past visits this was not good
Had their Yungblut's Famers Sausage breakfast, excellent. Was in-and-out of the place in half an hour with no rush. I did NOT succumb to thier tempting and famous butter tarts, even though their breakfast menu CLEARLY STATED it was okay to have one for breakfast. So seldom am I in Stratford mornings, however, I always make it a point to visit this place.
We can not believe our favourite Stratford restaurant Madelyn’s is closing!! SO many great memories with our kids! They are all grown adults now, but they still visit Madelyn’s when in town. Their favourite eggs benny is fantastic and the butter tarts are like no other we’ve tasted! Pastry is flaky and fillings with so many flavours. Honestly, I wasn’t a fan of butter tarts, but yours converted me! Thank you to all who gave us delicious food, great service and treats over the years. We will miss Madelyn’s! This place was great food was great. Service was great. They were really good at serving real food. It was really nice to get a home cooked meal.Food: 5/5
Breakfast was OK, but the cleanliness left a lot to be desired! What a dump, food all over the floor looks like it hasn't been swept or properly mopped in a while..took buttertarts to go, nothing to rave about..pecans tasted burnt and too much pastry to filling..disappointed
very good local diner in stratford. and i mean local as we were the only asians on a friday lunch and service pretty much outed us as tourists! i had the smoked chops and the wife had the fish on a bun. the chops tasted like smoked ham but cut like a pork chop. the fish was crispy and good. to die for are the butter tarts, very sweet and very good. they even have a list of actual sold tarts for the last 10 years. the service was amazing. i would recommend.
