Do yourself a favor and don't waste your time. If you are a parent or have a loved one with mental health, dual diagnosis, or disability, know that your child can go die first and CMH wont care at all about it. --- *Macomb County Comunity Mental Health MCCMH and ESPECIALLY *any* of their ""First Resource" locations they have 4 of them on Macomb County -- know that they will be sure to double and triple bill State Medicaid, Federal Medicare and anyone else they can to collect, they will PAD the bill for so-called 'case managers, care coordinators- and ANYONE they can bill for, that you dont wat or need, and they actually DON'T PROVIDE any actual therapy or care that your loved one or child needs at all. CMH Is about playing the money game, draining all state funding so THEY THEMSELVES can keep their own salaries and benefits. They write 'contracts' with neatly every provider in Macomb County to ENSURE their own revenue so even if you found a therapist or psychiatrist on your own with your own insurer, the majority CANNOT HELP YOU unless CMH 'gets paid'.. Going to their purported 'Macomv County Ombudsman' won't help either. The guy clearly has zero experience in mental health, and he will do everything he can to protect his own salary to keep his job. CMH Is a state funding scam and should be shut down. Michigan families DON'T need more patrolled administrators to sit on their arse having 'meetings about meetings'!!! They need ACTUAL THERAPISTS and PSYCHIATRIC BEDS for their kids in crisis. But CMH is a legalized extortion outfit that takes ALL FUNDING FOR THEMSELVES.
They are awful to try to make an appointment with. Call center agents are disrespectful and RUDE. Deanna they called her D.D. the intake “specialist” was just as bad. They ask the same questions over and over and talk to you like you’re a child. They also told me many times I was lucky to get an appointment, and to thank them for the appointment since they are very busy. No, not thanking them, appointments are their job! Deanna was very pushy for me to see their psychiatrist. I wasn’t there for psychiatry like I must have said 50 times! I was looking for a good counselor as I am not happy with mine. I got so frustrated I got up and left. Deanna FOLLOWED ME! How unprofessional is that! I was completely stupid to have higher expectations for the county! No wonder mental health issues are on the rise! The workers don’t LISTEN and work WITH people!
Been on methadone for 9 years. I have detoxed from 78 mgs. to 10. I asked for help be going to rehab. for 28 days. This person said I was abusing methadone. How I dont know. The reason for rehab. is to completely stop with less anxiety and d discomfort. Plus the fact that its hard to detox around family and kids. So I tried again. I was told I could go for a five day detox only. It takes longer than five days to detox from methadone. I want to know why I can not go for 28 days? Even if I was abusing methadone wouldn't that be a good reason to go to rehab. The person I talked to was very rude. They pick and choose who they help.
The employee was annoyed by the fact that the phone actually rang. Granted, as I was told i should have called Mental health operator instead of administration. However, the representative was more concerned with how I got the number than getting me to the right department during a family mental health crises. This is how people dealing with mental health issues fall through the cracks. Calling the court to ask about emergency documents was no better. It was obvious he was annoyed by my questions as he rushed me off the phone. Very poor phone etiquette.
My son and I tried to get him admitted for treatment for substance abuse. Utilized the "hope not handcuffs" program to expedite the process. Sat at Macomb sheriffs office with an angel on Saturday for four hours trying to get through to the access center. Phone just rang nonstop and NO ONE ever answered. Left at 5:15 pm and got home. Called at 5:45 pm and the woman answered stating you have to be at a police station and I have to speak to an angel. When I explained the angel called nonstop, the access worker stated "we cover that entire county including emergency psychiatric admissions to hospitals and I could be on the phone a long time waiting for the hospital". She stated its better to call Monday through Friday when there's more staff. I told her we would return 10am to sheriffs office with the angel on Sunday, which we did. Access worker finally answered after about 14 minutes of consecutive phone ringing and took information. She said that the rehab facilities do not have intake workers on weekends. Got nowhere and went home. The angel said call in the morning again and if we get nowhere call the head angel which we did to report all of this to her. We must of called 10 times monday with the run around. I called the access supervisor to report all of this. She said someone would call by 5pm. They FINALLY agreed to pay the $1700 deductible and copay through the block grant and he was admitted to rehab on Tuesday at noon. Do they really think a person in active addiction can do all of this? Unbelievable !!! They need MAJOR overhaul changes with the opiod crisis!
MCCMH will not allow my son's providers to use CPI safe hold to keep my son safe from serious injury but, MCCMH would allow his providers to use or recommend ECT. ECT works by inducing seizures and a common side effect is brain cell damage At MCCMH the care for those who have the most severe issues is neglectful and dangerous.
I would give a negative 5 if I could. My daughter was asking for help to detox and in patient treatment the facility we called had a bed an d were ready to admit her. Access took the first initial application and said they would call back shortly that the managers were in meetings. After several hours we call back and the managers left for the day so nothing could be done until the next day.
Based on my own experience and after reading other online reviews I feel morally obligated to warn anyone thinking of going here, you do not want to work with "Doctor" Hanson. I don't know what school she claims to have graduated from, but based on her apparent lack of medical knowledge, professionalism, and even basic respect in human social interaction I cannot believe she is truly a licensed and accredited psychiatrist. If you are assigned to her, request to see someone else IMMEDIATELY. She will ignore you, insult you, and try to cram drugs down your throat on your first visit. You have been warned!
This is a potentially helpful community resource IF you fall within very specific category. If you or someone you know is a harm to themselves or others, you'll likely benefit from their services. If you have an extreme situation, you might benefit from their services. If you're looking for resources names, numbers, appointments for circumstances that are not extreme, they may not be able to help. The problem with this place is that they do a phone screening and if you don't pass the phone screening, you're not eligible for services. The phone screening is only a few questions and if your issue isn't deemed to be significant enough, you likely won't qualify for help and by help, I don't mean financial help or free help, I mean the ability to be scheduled with certain specialists, many of whom you can only get an appointment with by using this service. If you tell them that you need SOMEONE to call, they will give out some phone numbers to people who can supposedly help you, but when I called the numbers and I called EVERY SINGLE ONE, they ALL referred me back to the MCCMHA telling me that only MCCMHA can schedule appointments with them. When I called MCCMHA back, they reiterated that my circumstances don't qualify because they're not significant enough. I gave 3 stars, because if you or someone you know is a danger to themselves or others, you should definitely call.
