Very cool authentic old ice cream shoppe. So many flavours! We all loved the flavour we choose. They have their history displayed on the wall - wish i had more time to browse all the pictures. The prices are a little high but worth it for a treat
This is our first visit to the place. Great staff, my little son didn’t like the flavour he picked it at the first time then the girl from the staff offered him another flavour he liked. We bought 10 ice cream with all different flavours and we LOVED it Thank you.
Iconic ice cream shop in Cochrane town. Opening for over 75 years and counting. They serve homemade ice cream with tons of flavours. Depend on the season flavour changes too. Every time we come we get different taste. The ice cream is good taste very creamy but not too hard to bite. It’s also a good spot for take picture since it’s located in historic downtown street with some old buildings.
Cochrane's most famous ice-cream joint totally lives up to its reputation. The locally made ice cream is delicious, decently priced and they have a bunch of flavours available. This here is one of their bestsellers — the Rocky Mountain Coffee ice cream, which packs espresso bits and a lot of goodness. A must-visit if you are in this town!
I heard so much about this place but if I am being honest I don't see why people come here from Calgary to have their ice cream. It's not bad, they have a variety of flavors and some dairy free options as well. They have options for a gluten free cone too. But I felt like their flavors lacked depth. The consistency, creaminess was fine. I've tried their chocolate fudge which had chips in place of what I was hoping would be chunks of fudge or brownie. I tried their rockyroad coffee which was okay. Their cookies and cream didn't have that punch. Their best flavor in my opinion is the maple walnut which I really enjoyed. Overall I would say; not too bad but not too great either.
Everything came live todaywhen we visited this amazing place today!! We went to MacKay’s many years back for the first time when we moved to Calgary. Everyone was talking about it then one Sunday we went and the lineup was telling us how busy this place was!!’ They have this map which shows where from the world people come to this place. They have sooo many flavours of ice cream I think more then 40 to choose from which get me confused always I love the vibe of this place. Busyness but still smiles on the faces of servers and they are so helpful.
Really good freshly made ice cream that worth a long drive to this small town to get. Very popular place especially during summer long queue. This shop been around for decades, they even display their very old signboard and ice cream machine.
This is a fun place to go get a cone or bowl of delicious ice cream. You are going to pay for the experience of buying a treat from a famous establishment though. You might want to get a tub from the freezer if you want more than four scoops. I found the staff not very knowledgable but if you tell them what you want they will write it down. I go back every time I'm driving in to Calgary from Banff. Give them a try, eh?
In search of Ice Cream, we ended up at Mckay’s in Cochrane. The flavours were posted outside of the outlet so its easy to pick n choose before entering. Upon entering there was a brief history and map of Cochrane which appealed me. Server at the counter was super friendly and she helped out with choosing the ice cream flavours. We ordered Salted Caramel, Pistachio Almond Hallmark and Butterscotch Ripple. The quality of ice cream was amazing! I loved it. Sweetness was appropriate and well balanced. Salted Caramel flavour was extremely good. I tried Pistachio Almond, it tasted very close to actual dry fruit. Highly recommended. I’m definitely going back again.
Many and many times we are here we always buy more and eat more why? Because so so delicious in Alberta I have been many places and tried but only this place my family love the most. We are ok for waiting a long line because waiting is a happy with family.
