My father in law passed away on Monday February 7th 2022. My family was told that everything would be arranged to have the service virtually broadcasted live for Thursday February 10th. On Wednesday February 9th the family was told that no videographer was available and that they would not provide the virtual broadcast service this is unacceptable. Family friends spent the night of Wednesday February 9th trying to set up Facebook and Zoom links to make streaming available for family and friends to see the service live, when trying to inquire about this issue, we got no response from this funeral home other than the contact person taking the calls is from another location and everyone from the funeral home has gone home, "they will email" but not to expect anything as they do not start work until 9am the next morning the actual service is scheduled for 11am, we wanted to discuss this unfulfilled promise. Wednesday February 9th in the afternoon my family met with Dawne and there were several written errors in my father in law's obituary, our family had to edit and re-edit the obituary and when tried to contact Dawne to fix up the obituary they said she had gone home, the funeral home's lack of attention to detail is disrespectful to the deceased and their family, the obituary that was eventually posted still contained misspelt names despite trying to bring it to their attention. This funeral home made it extremely difficult to get the obituary done as familly and friends were waiting for information and a link about the service all time sensitive so people can plan to attend/view and with incorrect family information in his obituary. The overall experience with this funeral home was extrodinarily stressful given the promise to stream virtual live especially in the time of Covid restrictions. I would not want another family to go through this, I will never forget how our family was mistreated by Gilbert MacIntyre and Son company in such a difficult time. I would recommend not paying this funeral home for such disgusting service where the family is scrambling around to get a service that was promised but unfulfilled on the part of the funeral home. It is painful to watch my husband's family to go through this, not only were they grieving but they had to put up with this funeral home's terrible business practices promising an essential service in the time of Covid then cancelling on them the day before, we did not have the obituary to post or link to send from this funeral home but instead my family had to spend until midnight that Wednesday to get a link to establish and send their own info about my father in law's death, if you can imagine what that is like for family and friends to not have this information for a service happening the next morning. The morning of the service, Thursday, two hours before we discover that the website has put on "plant a tree" in memory, another cash grabbing service that we did not order and multiple calls to take it down. Their response to my sister in law on Thursday morning with calls to correct the obitruary, to take down "plant a tree" that was not ordered, was that there was no one to take her call, and that she "needed to understand from their side of things". No family should be up at midnight the night before trying to figure out how to virtually live stream their funeral service that was promised to be done by this funeral home and scramble around to get an obituary done properly. No family should have to call the morning of the service and ask for them to take down from their obituary services/things that were not ordered like "plant a tree". Instead our family would have liked donations to the hospice and the church.
Services provided for my Aunt’s funeral were really professional. I misplaced my COVID face mask and the staff promptly gave me a new one after they noticed I was without. We all wish we wouldn’t need to have funeral parlours but it’s a part of life we all go through and is a relief when those services are handled by good people. Thank You.
It is never a good way to meet people, or discover an excellence in customer care and compassion... but that exactly how I would describe my experience with both Norm and Jason from Gilbery Macintyre. It is a difficult time, laying someone of significance in your life, and having had the opportunity to be a customer of these two, made closure and peace possible form my loved ones. Norm did an excellent job explaining what at the time seems so complex and overwhelming, with knowledge, experience and most importantly compassion. Thank you for doing such a great job helping prepare and remember a man that was gone too soon.
My Dad being married for 68 years to Mum, and then becoming a widower, creates very stressful times. Gilbert Macintyre took away our concerns and anxiety through the entire process and allowed us to remember Mum peacefully. Very considerate and thoughtful staff.
A very assessable building with ample parking and very attentive, respectful and knowledgable staff.
Great place to take care of your funeral needs.
