I was highly recommended this place by a co-worker and a friend, we were trying to decide on a restaurant and happened to be near by and decided to finally go check Ma Chef out. We went about 90 minutes before closing and this place was still extremely busy, we were lucky a couple tables were already leaving. The menu is quite small so it's easier to make a selection which is always nice. It made it easy to look at what other tables were eating and decide based off of that. The spicy pork ribs were not very spicy at all, which is fine for someone that does not like things too spicy, but if you like spicy you'll be disappointed as I did not even consider it remotely hot, perhaps next time I'll ask if they can make it extra spicy but usually when an item is claimed to be spicy you can at least feel some heat, regardless the flavour and texture was on par and became my new favourite normally I only get gal-bi which they do not have. The chicken was a bit expensive, but they entered in my top 5 favourite Korean fried chicken, they would be in my top 3 if they were either bigger, full size pieces of chicken not wings, or they offered more wings by weight not by piece. Our favourite was the steamed tofu, we ended up getting a second order of it. Overall I'll be heading back here if I am in the area and there's open spots. I hope they open a second location soon and add gal-bi to their menu.

Easily one of my favorite Korean restaurants now! Small menu but superbly executed and very reasonably priced for the quality of food. We'll certainly be back! The chef is also very friendly!

A 5 star foodie experience in an otherwise unassuming strip mall location. The service was fast and superb responsive waitress and chef comes out and greet. The price is very reasonable compared to the top notch quality you are getting. The avacado and shrimp salad and seolleongtang are a must try. Definitely my top pick for Korean food around YEG.

ma chef has always been my go to korean place. i brought my family here for the first time and all the dishes were great. highlights were the yukhoe, tilapia HIGHLY RECOMMEND! and seollongtang. they never disappoint! since i've dined here multiple times before, i thought i'd give my honest opinion and explain why i'd give it 3 stars: - i usually get the steamed tofu and bossam. they're my FAVOURITE but for some reason today didn't hit home. bossam was a bit dry and the cabbage was too thin and stiff to make a "wrap". steamed tofu was a bit overcooked too so it lacked that silky texture that i prefer! - customer service was disappointing. the server forgot about our basic requests multiple times and wouldn't come back to the table unless we get their attention once more ie. table napkins, asking for water, the bill, bowls, to-go boxes. there was also no interaction between the server and us. customer service and food consistency is a big factor for me. hopefully the next time we go, we have a better experience : for more asian food reviews, please check out my food page @asianyegeats on instagram!

EAT HERE. This is not only a solid Korean restaurant but the service is outstanding. Its the added touch that with each dish the owner comes and explains the best way to eat it. The fish was great and adds that wow factor on presentation. The wings are very classic Korean fried chicken which is super crispy and juicy in the middle. There is a large Soju list with multiple flavours. The heat from the kimchi was also one of those authentic touches - spicy- but not without that great crunch and flavour. I frequent this area of Edmonton and honestly at a super reasonable price of ~$20 / dish Ma Chef is now on my go-to list here.

Ordered takeout and this is by far the best Korean in the city. Their meat dishes are a large portion size and flavourful. Great amount of heat. Chicken wings are cooked perfectly. Super crispy on the outside and flavourful and tender on the inside with a Great amount of meat. We are always pleasantly surprised by their fried tofu. My partner and I aren’t big tofu fans, but this is actually one of our favourite dishes from Ma Chef. We’re big fans for life!

Went for lunch and thoroughly enjoyed it. Had the bo-ssam boiled pork belly lettuce wraps to start. Fun presentation as the pork come out covered by a cloche filled with smoke and lettuce, toppings and sauce on an adjoining plate. Also had two soups served on a hot plate in a big pot. The Rocky Mountain bulgogi jeongol beef, tofu, glass noodles;and the CN Tower gamjatang jeongol spicy pork bone stew. Everything was delicious. The service was very friendly and prompt. Lots of other tempting dishes on their menu. If you are in the mood for Korean food, give this place a try. Highly recommended.

Food is amazing, especially the CN tower soup. We also ordered tilapia fried fish and it was delicious. Highly recommended. Service is very friendly and attentive. Restaurant is clean!! We will be back soon!

Amazing food! The presentation is a nice bonus. It looks like they put effort on both looks and taste. Prices are reasonable with the portions you get. Would definitely recommend the Yukhoe and Spicy Pork Rib! The Korean Style Pork Cutlets were huge and tender. The slaw that came with it had an interesting flavor.

The food here can speak for themselves! They are so delicious and the owner/chef Jacky is such a genuine person. I had been here many times and was never disappointed. The only suggestion I have, is if they can expand the menu more.
