My dry eye specialist suspected I had the first signs of cataract; and since I did lasik surgery a few years ago, he said Dr Ma has experience in that area. First off his nurse insisted my husband stay throughout the appointment, she said it’s their protocol to have a caretaker to learn how to apply eye drops for me after the cataract surgery, but I wasn’t even diagnosed at that point! After many tests Dr Ma announced that I didn’t have cataract, but my dry eyes were serious. I just saw my dry eyes specialist a week before, wasn’t that his decision instead of Ma’s? Finally I caved in and allowed him to insert 2 tear duct plugs, which cost $260 and were useless, I had my dry eye specialist took them out today. I wonder if Ma felt he needed to charge me something on top of billing OHIP a couple of hours. I was open to second opinions, but not from an arrogant and greedy doctor. Won’t go to him ever again.
BEST eye doctor ever. I had my surgery at least 2 years ago. He follows up every year with me to check my eyes! and I'm not charged so hopefully that means it's covered under ohip The ladies in his office are top notch eye technicians. I have very sensitive eyes and tsking scans are very uncomfortable for me and they are able to do it skillfully and quickly. I've went to many laser eye surgery consults prior to Dr. Ma and they were all terrible. And their technicians that took the eye scans were unskilled in comparison. Felt like torture each time at those other eye clinics Dr. Ma is very skilled. I have no problems with my eyes and still have perfect vision which isna requirement for my job. My job requires me to work on small objects 1/10ths of a millimeter. Microns. As to other reviews saying he only treats wealthy clients well. I have to say that I've never had a problem. I go to his appointments in my comfy sweatpants and t shirts. So i definately don't LOOK wealthy.
I had my cataract surgery a month ago. Dr. Joseph Ma and his team were all highly professional and helpful throughout our interactions, and made me feel confident in his skill. The team ensured I was comfortable during the procedure and delivered excellent results. Thank you Dr. Ma and his great team! WY Kam
Dr. Ma and his staff are the most caring and considerate team I have encountered so far in the medical field. Dr. Ma is so considerate, meticulous and skillful in his craft. He is patient and listen and answer so many question without me being being hurried, ,feel ignorant or embarrassed. His clinic has the state of the art equipments and he does not skim on hygiene, air purifier or any procedure to ensure his patients' health safety during this Corvid situation. Dr Ma and his staff make you feel you are his only patient, checks your eye drops everytime you go and gives me a personalized eyedrop schedule. He and his staff are amazing. I am so blessed to have my cataract and vision correction surgery done by him. To those who posted mean comments about him, I would definitely challenge them. Contrary to what people say, he had never once pressured me to use expensive lenses.
I did the Advanced Surface Ablation ASA with Dr. Ma a month back. Dr. Ma was polite, patient and professional. He answered all my questions during consultation and carefully guided me through the surgery. The team was well-trained, welcoming and answer my questions step-by-step during all the necessary screening processes. This is one of the most critical moment of my life. And I am very grateful that it was Dr. Ma and his team did the surgery. PS: after a week of the survey, i was able to see clearly, but the total recovery phase is around 4 months mainly because of dry-eye issue. I am 1 month down the road, other than the dry eye issue, i am very happy with the result.Hopefully in another 3 months, the dry eye issue will be gone. Thanks again to Dr. Ma and the team.
This is the worst physician ever. If you are someone he likes, he provides preferential treatment for you. If you're his patient, you know what I mean. A folder colored green means he is telling his front desk people to take you first. I was waiting there for 3 hours. He came literally 2 hours late. His entire lady staff had no idea what was going on. He tried up selling SUGERIES. I was told that everything would be covered by OHIP. However he informed me that I would have to pay him additional charges. I ended up going back to china for my surgery.
One of the worst doctors I've been too, I went there after the emergency room sent me there because I had a scar they thought I have from the incident I have been in. He asked me who's your eye doctor, I said I don't remember he made a face like he thinks I'm a low life and said wow, after examination he said you have an old scar not a new scar, then after I asked him should I be worried about the old scar, he said "I DON'T KNOW, go see your eye doctor and find out" what a guy eh? He's a big show off with a big ego and and a big attitude, I was shocked, what's wrong with you "doc" why would you say "I don't know,..." You're not a nice person at all, You have some issues, go see a physiologist, TRUST ME, you'll be a better doctor and a better human! Don't bring the hate that was created in you while you were studying to become a doctor to your patients, get help Ma
horrible. was sent there from north york general. was asked to walk back to north york to get a sheet of paper where after fighting with them for 15 min they agreed to call to get it faxed there. then after waiting for another 45 min i was told they couldn't bill ohip and i would have to pay out of pocket. i left with no idea if i actually had an eye infection or just a scratch cornea
Read his ratemds reviews, please be careful and seek second opinion before agreeing to any procedures he will be charging you for! It felt like we were in a car dealership and he was trying to sell you something and if you decided against it, he no longer cared for you being in his office which by the way looks like it was designed to stroke his own ego!
Dr Ma and the staff were very friendly and professional he answered all my questions i had laser surgery and went very well he cares for his patients i would say he is one of best thank you Dr Ma and his team.
