The arena is a nice area, if you have a dog and kids great place for a walk, I didn't go into the facility so I doing know how it is. The area isn't the safest at night as it is a high crime area. Cops patrol the area, quite frequently and will inspect any suspicious behaviour. I would recommend going during the day.
Local ice arena with some interesting history. It's not exactly state of the art, but the ice is pretty good considering how old the place is.
This is a great no frills arena with well maintained ice and very low crowds.
This was where i use to go skating maybe 10 plus years ago. Was a good area. Lots of hockey games held here. Lots of parking space. Located near birch park. Baseball diamond behind this picture. I don't know know if this place is still open because of covid. The arena exterior looks like it needs to be renewed because it looks old.
For a place built in 1960's it stands the test of time. Nice big heaters for the parents, which is a lifesaver for the days where I'm at the rink for two or more hours. Small canteen offers popcorn and coffee, which is surprisingly decent. Those heaters though. That's what makes this place so much better than other indoor rinks. Edit: small canteen now closed most of the time. Took one star away for that.
Second time I had to visit this arena. Kids in team sports and all that. From what I remembered last year, it was a very cold place. This year it is still a very cold place, even for ice hockey arena standards. Make sure to bundle up if you need to visit it and I do mean bundle up! Other than that the facilities are great.
Great ice, kept clean, good seating, only issue is the heaters face the steps more than the seats, so if you tend to get cold you may want to stand on the steps to stay warm - if you're not blocking the view.
I go here all the time 2 watch stick ball or ice hockey in the winter it's a covered arena
The Saturday free skate 3:15-4:45pm is well worth the trip especially with little ones. 2-3 skate training devices are usually available
The ice surface and boards are not in great shape. Friendly staff and working heaters.
