I have stayed at the Lone Fir every visit to the area and have never been disappointed. The service is always great, rooms clean and comfortable with anything I might need coffee etc!. The store has lots of fun gifts as well as needed items for an adventure one might have forgotten. And to top it off, the food is delicious. Spicy cheese curds, mushroom pizza and grilled cheese...YUM!
This is our second time staying at Lone Fir Resort- Cougar WA is a great jumping off point for many Mt St Helens adventures. Both times the customer service has been good and we were satisfied with our room. Gift shop has a lot of supplies for hiking and camping. We haven’t tent camped or parked an RV there but they do offer those options. Restaurant is pretty standard bar & grill fare. Had a good burger there- you can sub Impossible Burgers for vegetarians.
Great place, stayed here April 2021! Staff was very helpful. I didn't get done with my adventures on the Columbia River gorge until it was almost dark so by the time I got to Lone Fir it was getting late. At least for the west cost lifestyle in April. It was about 8:30, got checked in, unloaded and ordered some food from the kitchen. The girl working in the dining room made my night. Wish I could remember her name, but she was friendly and got me the first real food I'd had in a couple days. Then I locked myself out of the room after I finished eating and she got me another room key even though they were closed and she was trying to finish closing up to go home. The room was a little dated but clean and had everything I needed. When I make it back out to climb St. Helen's I'll definitely be trying to stay here again.
So much more than I expected. Honestly, I just wanted a place close to the start of the Mt. Saint Helen's hike. But not only was our cabin immaculately clean and comfortable looked like newly upgraded, but the restaurant food was delicious. Every person who worked there was kind and helpful.Rooms: 5/5
Great place to stay for climbing Mount St Helens. Leas than 30 minutes to Climbers Bivouac. We stayed in cabin 8 and had 12 people. Only wish the shop was opened when we checked out so we could get our kids gifts. Our fault for not checking the hours. Highly recommend staying here. The price was great!
Great place! I would highly recommend it as a good price for a cozy, clean place near many beautiful hikes, bodies of water, and amazing views. However, wait until late April to make sure the snow is all cleared away. I will definitely go back! Rooms: The cottage we stayed in was very comfortable and well appointed. It’s clear there have been updates done and done well. Roomy, cozy, and quiet. Nearby activities: The time of year we chose early spring was not the best because we could not access the hiking areas due to roads not being cleared of snow yet. Looking forward to going back closer to summer to do some hikes and maybe some water activities. Safety: Even though the highway is right next to the facility, everything felt very safe. I felt like the employees were well aware of who the guests were and were looking out for us.
We had a cabin booked for 11/7-11/11. Initially it was a hotel room, but we switched to a cabin. Because it wasn’t switched before their 10 day time frame, we had to pay the one night fee to change it. We paid it willingly. On 11/7 a man called me at 12:30 and let me know that they were unable to charge my card for the stay. I let him know that I was aware. That I was up in the mountains elk hunting and was planning on putting the money on my card when I passed through town so it would be on there at check in. Check in doesn’t start till 3:30, but was allowed up until 12am per their website He immediately became condescending, told me my card was invalid, And that they needed to be paid asap to hold the reservation… I already paid the deposit. I told him that was impossible as I was out in the mountains hunting. He put me on hold, and then came back to let me know that they needed me checked in by 6 and no later because they wanted to go home for the night. There was no costumer service, no manners. I’m normally a people pleaser so I brush things off but I could not. We ended up cancelling our reservation entirely, and took our business where it was appreciated. I will never use this business again, customer service is huge to me, and this establishment has none.
Ate at the cafe and enjoyed one of the most delicious cheeseburgers! Then I thoroughly enjoyed the perfect French fries. First time in a long time I cleared my plate. Definitely recommend the food. Was given a tour of the cabins, rooms, clubhouse and property. Very friendly staff and beautiful rooms
Absolutely outstanding property and accomodations, and the nicest, most helpful staff!! The food was phenomenal at the onsite restaurant-far exceeding any expectations we may have had we highly recommend the campfire fries and they brought it out to us in our cabin after we placed the order online to coincide with our arrival/check-in!! The cabin was very clean and looked recently updated/modernized. We have T-Mobile cell service, and while our own coverage was spotty outside of Lone Fir Resort, their onsite Wi-Fi worked very well during our stay!! We absolutely plan on returning to Lone Fir Resort, and hopefully for longer next time. The property has a game room, outdoor pool, picnic tables and a horseshoe pitch area for guests, and the gift shop also had snacks and some outdoor gear along with loads of cool souvenirs! The Sasquatch theme to the property was very charming, too-daughter approved
Fantastic place! The helpful fellow at the front desk allowed me to check in two hours early. The room was clean and quiet. There are a restaurant and bar on site which are great as well.
