Story

The London Muslim Mosque (LMM) is located at the heart of London, Ontario, Canada at 151 Oxford Street West. It is the largest mosque in London and Middlesex county and serves as a religious organization, as well as a community centre. We are open for the 5 main prayer times and hold two congregational prayers on Fridays (12:00 and 1:30pm). All are welcome to join us!

History about the London Muslim community and mosque:

The first known Muslims arrived in London in the late 1800’s. Throughout the 1940’s & 50’s, families would meet in each others homes every weekend to socialize and teach religion and culture to their children – who were the first generation of Muslims born in London.

In 1955 the community, then consisting of only twelve families, purchased a property at the corner of Oxford & Summit street. The home on this property was renovated to serve both religious observances and social gatherings. Saturday evenings saw the community gathering for dinner, Sunday school was initiated for the children, weddings, funerals and prayers were held all held here in what became the first Mosque to be opened in Ontario and the largest Islamic institution in London!

Our Community is Growing!

Our community has grown tremendously over the decades and our institutions are growing to meet the need. The grounds at the London Muslim Mosque now consist of an award winning school, modern gymnasium.

The mosque is not just a place of worship; it is a sanctuary of unity, warmth, and inclusivity. This mosque is a welcoming, peaceful haven for people of all cultures, races, and religions. Its inclusive atmosphere, beautiful architecture, and kind community make it a special place. Every visit leaves me feeling uplifted and grateful. Alhamdulilah. Tranquil and beautiful recitation. Not fast. And welcoming brothers. Place for kids and sisters. Washrooms are downstairs. If you try enumerate the blessings of Allah, you will not be able to do so. End the genocide. End the apartheid. Support life, liberty, and justice for all people. Allah is perfect. Remember Allah. Allah will remember you. Great place to establish the prayer.

Visited the London Muslim Mosque this past weekend as part of Doors Open London. I have and had many wonderful Muslim aquatinces, and felt drawn to visiting a Mosque to experience it, in honour and interest towards those connections. My daughter and I on visiting were so very very warmly welcomed! And received as guest, we entered the visit with some knowledge of Islam faith, but learned so much more enthusiastically, by the many wonderful volunteer hosts. And felt like we genuinely got to know more of our brothers and sisters of this world. Also being a practicing Christian myself, and this coming up in few of the conversations had, there was nothing but warmth showed to us as all being part of God's family. Thank you to all present that that day for opening your doors and kindness shown. Thank you !
Very beautiful masjid. After friday prayers they have a stall of some nice food for only 5$, which actually tastes really good and fills you up. Parking is tight, so I suggest parking at the shopper’s drug mart plaza to save time after jummah, otherwise you will be stuck for 15-20 minutes.
