This is my go-to place in all of Nova Scotia for a grilled Rueben Sandwich. Nothing else compares or even comes close! I live in HRM and anytime I am in Bridgewater I always stop into The Public House for a Rueben and I am never disappointed! I have even done the drive before in the past specifically to eat it, so I can assure you there is no other around that compares! Just make sure sure to bring your appetite because you will need it or you will leave stuffed to the brim! I have been coming here on and off for years and it has never changed. If I could give this location 10 stars I would! Great service with amazing food! You have not lived until you have tried their grilled Reuben sandwich!
My first time eating here and it will not be my last!! I had a delicious Caesar salad as my starter and then the Local burger with fries as my main. The burger was juicy and grilled to perfection. The fries were hot and crisp right to the end!! The wait time was great considering how busy they were and the staff were very polite and seemed happy-go-lucky!! I had a wonderful experience!! Next time, I won't be eating alone!!!
Went in with my family after visiting for the first time in a few years. Walked past a guy smoking outside, which was gross enough, Went into the restaurant and a lovely waitress greeted us and asked how many people we had. It was 5. 4 adults and a toddler she said she would look for a place for us. The man smoking came in, and almost walked right into my 3 year old and said in a nearly irritated voice "I'm not sure we'll have a table" to which my mother politely responded "well the young lady was looking for a table for us" to which he said "I don't think we'll have one" and he walked away. Already offput by his attitude we were still waiting. We see the Lady go to clean off a larger table for us which was great. The guy came back and said that it'll be a 30 minute wait, which would have been fine and my mom said "she actually started cleaning that table there, and it might be for us" then this guy shoves his hand in my mom's face and says "well I am the manager and she hasn't told me about it", which... I mean what waitress tells their manager about every person they seat to my surprise my mom didn't try to snap his finger and gave even more attitude to us. At this point, we made the decision to leave and not bother waiting for a seat because what manager sticks their hand in a customers face after being the most disrespectful, and most arrogant person I've dealt with in a long time. Being in management myself, this is just unacceptable behavior and I can only imagine how he treats the staff at this location if this is how he treats his customers. Will definitely not be returning.
Excellent service and the best Reuben sandwich I've enjoyed in years! The portions are large...suitable for sharing. The prices are reasonable. And, it is a clean, bright pub.
Took a friend for a meal after shopping. It was the worst food we had ever eaten. Onion soup was gross, quesadilla was way over priced for the amount of filling and the tortilla was almost impossible to cut. The ONLY half decent item were the sweet potato fries. Total $54 what a rip off.
Waited for almost 30 mins for a Club Sandwich which was made wrong. Both meals had cold fries. Beer was flat Waitress was wonderful.Hard Root beer great.
I had a terrible experience here. It started out ok. We were seated and the waitress took our drink order water. Then it took about 15-20 minutes from there for her to come back and take our food order. Not exactly pleased it took so long considering the restaurant was only about a third full. We finally get our orders in, it's wing night so I got a basket of wings. I finished my water. Cue about a 40 minute wait to finally get my basket of wings. A basket of 5 very small, super old, over cooked, gross tasting wings. They looked like they had been mummified. I've eaten a lot of bad wings like a lot but these might have taken the cake as the worst. I ate them because I was starving and needed some kind of food. Now I will say that I share a lot of the blame in this scenario. I assumed that a pub with a wing night would know what they're doing. It takes a few minutes to cook up some wings, it's one of the fastest menu items there is. 40 minutes!!! For the smallest wings ever. How is that even possible! Again, the restaurant was not very busy. I had put in a second order of wings when my first order arrived, because I was very hungry and usually that's how I do it on a wing night. As soon as I ate some of the wings, I found our waitress she was almost never around and cancelled my second order. Just an all around terrible experience; the service, the wait, the food. Also, I put empty water glass at the edge of the table like you do. You think I ever got a second glass?
Our wait was ridiculously long. It was so busy and they were obviously under-staffed. The food was ok. Not big portions and the nachos were definitely not worth the price. The staff were friendly and trying their best. I felt sorry for them.
Found this gem on a road trip down the south shore. Was not disappointed. My Burger was delicious and very filling but I managed to have a few bites of the haddock and lobster dish... So good!!! Prices aren't bad either.
