This County Park is a beauty. Easy access to all the sites and dump station. We were there mid September and didn't notice any bad odors which can be common in farm country. I think it was under $20 a night but go to so many places I can't recall. Party on.

The lake area campground is clean and well kept. There are plenty of facilities for campers and visitors to use. The available rentals to enjoy water activities is such a nice bonus to have available.

We ended up staying here overnight by chance when we got a late start on our way south toward Ames. We arrived after nine and didn't figure anyone would be around to check is in (there was a sign outside a camper stating "campground host" but the lights were all off). The whole park was packed with camper trailers. Fortunately, the primitive tent campsites were still available. Unfortunately, there were plenty of people up drinking and making noise well past the 10:30pm quiet time. Many people had brought big screen TVs, entertainment systems and lights galore. To each their own, but definitely not my style of camping. If party-camping is your thing, you might just love this place. The bathrooms weren't the worst I've seen but were somewhat smelly and dirty. Couldn't complain, however, about the cheap price ($12/night for the tent sites) and close proximity to interstate 35.
