Story

Since 1999, Progressive Community Health Centers has provided high quality, comprehensive health care and social services to patients of all ages and incomes for residents of the inner-city neighborhoods on Milwaukee’s North Side.

An independent non-profit organization, Progressive CHC now operates in four locations with over 100 full time employees, saw over 25,000 health visits in 2015, and is the main source of medical care for over 19,000 patients who rely on the Medicaid program.

Our comprehensive services include adult and pediatric medicine, behavioral health services, social services, women’s health, HIV and STD prevention and treatment, and an assortment of other services including radiology, mammography, nutritional counseling and specialty care for our patients.

Products

Adult Medicine
Health care services are available to all adult patients (including the elderly). Preventive health screenings are very important for men and women as we age. Our providers specialize in treating people with high blood pressure, diabetes, asthma and other chronic diseases.

Pediatric Medicine (Children)
Pediatric and newborn care is offered for children under the age of 19. This includes routine health checks and immunizations, in addition to lead, vision and hearing screenings. Our providers can also monitor chronic conditions, such as asthma and sickle cell anemia.

Women’s Health
Our women’s health department can help you manage your health both during and after pregnancy. We also offer gynecological services, annual exams, pregnancy testing, family planning services (birth control), breast health screenings, STD treatment and menopausal care.

Dental Care
Dental services are available to all Progressive Community Health Center patients. Our dental clinic is located at the Lisbon Avenue Health Center. Services include regular cleanings, fillings, x-rays, dentures/partials and simple tooth extractions. Adults, seniors and children as young as two years old are welcome at our clinic.

Financial/Benefits Enrollment
Financial counselors are available at both clinic locations to assist patients in applying for Medicaid benefits (BadgerCare+, Elderly, Blind & Disabled, Family Planning Waiver), FoodShare, childcare assistance, and health insurance through the Health Insurance Marketplace. Patients may also be eligible to apply for our sliding fee program.

Integrated Behavioral Health
Our behavioral health consultants work with your primary care provider and offer extra help when worry, stress, habits and other problems are getting in the way of your daily life and activities. The behavioral health consultants can help you manage emotional or behavioral issues such as anger, anxiety, depression, grief or stress.

Referral Services
Progressive Community Health Centers is grateful for its community partnership with Froedtert Hospital and the Medical College of Wisconsin. Our providers are trained to treat common illnesses. However, if your medical needs are more complicated, we can refer you to some of the most skilled doctors in the area.
