I miss seeing Jacob and Elizabeth and the beautiful lodge built by them with heart and soul as well as sweat and tears.
We arrived in a terrible heatwave and with a bad mosquito outbreak, so our stay was a little wierd. There is no AC, of course, but a fan and we were fortunate enough to bring our fan as well. The mosquitos were kept at bay with spray and coils. There are several access areas to get in the lake, and even a rushing creek with a little pool the creek water is ice cold, the lake a little warmer. We stayed in the en suite cabin so can't speak to the "shared bathroom" experience. The ambience is quite nice and rustic. The owners were nice enough to call two days ahead to offer to cancel because of the mosquitos problem - that was very considerate! Considering everything we had a great time!
Was attached by mosquitoes badly. Outdoor space was unusable so we were expected to stay in a filthy cabin, screen door could not be used due to mosquitoes. We booked 2 nights stay but decided to leave after 3 hours. Ants and bugs inside cabin due to poor cleaning. Owners did not properly warm of mosquitoes and refused to refund money. This is a form of theft! It’s a beautiful outdoor paradise however the outdoors where not an option without spraying toxic chemicals all over my body. Owners are very welcoming and outgoing folks! But refused to refund my money. I will be disputing the charge on my credit card. A proper mosquito warming should be issues. This is not “a few” mosquitoes as stated in the brochure. Stand outside for 10 minutes, you’ll have 30+ bites. I explained that my partner was swelling to to a reaction to the excessive bites. I expressed that I would have been satisfied with the 2nd nights stay being refunded. I will not return. Staying at the Pemberton Lodge is much safer.
Visit here every once and a while. Relaxing, rustic and low key. Owners are the nicest folks you'll meet.
We found this place by accident, how lucky we were to be able to share Jacobs beautiful location. The cabins are so rustic and beautiful. I didn’t want to leave. A short walk away is a lovely waterfall. We could have spent much more time here exploring. We will definitely be back again soon all the way from Australia! Thank you Jacob for sharing your paradise.
Beautiful spot with helpful proprietors who live on site. Jacob and Elizabeth were attentive and friendly without being intrusive. Cabins are clean and well appointed with everything you might need, including books, puzzles, chessboard and cards. We were too busy looking at the scenic views and hanging out by the campfire to make use of them but I can appreciate that they were available. The only downside was the rather rough dirt road that seemed to go on forever but the destination was well worth the time and dust.
I have been coming here every spring as a start of the season motorcycle trip for about 7 years now. This place has a special place in my heart. It is the perfect quiet peaceful getaway. Stay in one of the clean cabins or camp in one of the sites. Jacob and Elizabeth are wonderful hosts. If either of them are reading this, hello from the "bikers"!
This is a truly amazing place. Jacob and Elizabeth are such wonderful hosts, and--if you have time and ask--they have interesting stories to share about this area, and how they came to live here. The place is charming, right at the lake, beautifully maintained ... They even produce their own energy. We found this only by accident, and felt really lucky. Oh, and there is a funny cat and a very relaxed dog that might visit you but they don't bother you if you don't like them. Oh and the map gets it somewhat wrong. Drive about one small bridge 500m further from the north than Google driving directions suggest. The entrance is clearly signed. So if you don't see it, you are not there yet.
We absolutely loved our stay here! It was so incredibly beautiful to wake up to the lake every day! The owners are wonderful! They give you your privacy while making sure you know if you need them they are there! Can not wait to stay again!Rooms: 5/5
Absolutely stunning get away. I think my dog thought he was in heaven, I have never seen him THAT happy. Our cabin was beautiful, and the hosts made sure we had everything we needed. Very covid safe/ isolated.
