Lester's Deli

Tried on a recommendation from a friend and was not disappointed. Smoked meat portion is generous and smoked meat is good - closer to a pastrami than some others I’ve had. Fries are excellent and appreciate that there are burgers etc on the menu for those that may like an alternative to smoked meat. Great atmosphere and super friendly people. Will be back when I visit Montreal next.

Lester's Deli really is a nice place to visit. We tried the smoked meat sandwich of course! and it was very good. The decor is a large collection of amusing items across several decades, all piled on a wall, opposite the big deli display full of meat and mustard, pickles and spices. The staff was friendly and good, and the food really did taste great - the smoked meat is so much better than sliced stuff you'll get in other sandwiches. I guess the only reason I didn't mark 5 stars is because I expected the sandwich to be a bit bigger and maybe the look of the fries wasn't wonderful although the texture and taste were excellent. I am telling friends visiting Montreal to check out Lester's - I am glad we stopped by!

We came from Ontario to see a concert at the Bell Centre and did tons of looking for the best smoked meat sandwich. I was told that Lester’s would be the best and boy it did not disappoint! The sandwich was piled high with meat and the fries were also so good. We came at about 4:30 on a Thursday and we were the only ones inside so I think we got really lucky to have a chill experience. Loved the atmosphere of all the stuff collected covering the walls and food was top notch. Would definitely recommend!

It's a nice spot with a very traditional old school retro ambiance. The service is great with very friendly staff. This was my first time at a place like this, so I can't compare with other delis, but everything was delicious, fresh, and tasty. Prices were elevated in my opinion, but it was worth it. Hope to be back soon to try more things from their menu.

We went to Lester’s at 4pm on a Saturday. We sat indoors because the sidewalk seating was full. Not many others were inside. Our server was great and attentive. We ordered the beef salami sandwich I wouldn’t order that again, however, I did eat every bite with Fries and pickle, the egg salad and beer. To finish things off we ordered sugar pie and the fresh coffee was excellent. Our waitress played a trick on us, I wont spoil the surprise but heads up to tricky waitstaff . I bought a 1/2 lb smoked meat to take home. This smoked meat was so good. Highly recommend. I bought 1 lb. Many options for food, it was difficult to decide. Staff was great. Portions were huge. There is a step into the shop, we managed to get a wheelchair in fairly easily.

One of the most authentic old school Montreal smoked meat spots in Montreal. The smoked meat sandwich was absolutely tremendous, it was the perfect size, texture and taste. A must try if you want authentic smoked meat in MTL. I also had a slice of cheesecake, which was heavenly and also perfectly authentic. The neighbourhood is also very charming.

Classic smoked meat sandwich. It wasn't out of this world but just as good as I expected it to be. Price has gone up to $13 per sandwich but still highly recommend it.

Highly recommend the location on Bernard in Outremont. The smoked meat sandwiches are truly delicious. It has been established since 1951 and Billy the owner is a sweetheart.

Excellent historic Deli for the Montreal Smoked Meat sandwich . Very much like a USA great corned beef enjoyed 100% . A must stop on a visit to Montreal. The store also has a location in YUL Montreal Airport. Would go again if in town.

Standard Montreal smoked meat. Did not live up to my expectations. Was no better than store bought deli meat. Received the lean end of the brisket, did not have much bark. Lacked any depths of flavor.
