Boucher guitars are one of a kind.nnI first heard about them in 2020 when I was looking to buy my first quality guitar. For this occasion, I went to a great Parisian shop to try some custom Martin guitars. However, being more concerned with the sound quality of an instrument than the logo on its headstock, I asked the seller to let me try guitars blindly to avoid being influenced by the brand. I tried everything: Taylor, Martin, H&D, Bourgeois, and, of course, Boucher. Some guitars did cost over 10,000 euros, others 2,000 euros - there were truly many options.nnLittle did I know about the Boucher brand, but I was in for a delightful surprise. The quality of the guitars I tried that day left me in awe. Unintentionally, two of my three favorite guitars turned out to be Boucher. A week later, I found myself back at the shop, ready to purchase the SG-42-G that I had enjoyed. And since then, every friend who has had the pleasure of trying it has been equally impressed!nnThen, in my quest for smaller, more portable guitars without compromising on sound or quality, I discovered Boucher’s ability to craft parlor guitars. I had the privilege of chatting with Guillaume, who took the time to understand my project and discuss it with me. Given my wonderful experience with Boucher, I decided to embark on this custom project. The team’s superb assistance in choosing the options and attributes for the guitar led to this magnificent result.nnThe outcome is simply stunning. I think I played nearly 10 hours last weekend on my guitar, which just arrived. The finishes are sublime, and every detail adds a unique touch to the guitar. The burst is really well done and perfectly highlights the bear claws. The neck is really nice and allows for easy and accessible playing. The top is beautiful, and the Madagascar rosewood is truly sublime as well.nAnd obviously, what a sound! It's a cathedral the size of a parlor. I was apprehensive about the potential boxy sound linked to small body guitars, but that's really not the case here—there's great accuracy and balance all around. Above all, you can feel all the work and heart put into this guitar. So, a huge thank you to the team for this work of art.
I purchased my Private Stock Maple OM Hybrid PS-SG-161 last week from Glenn Gotell at G&G Music in Antigonish, Nova Scotia and couldn’t have made a better choice.nnIt was basically a six hour round trip by car but totally worth the drive.nnGlenn was very helpful in letting me try the six or seven Boucher models that he had on hand in his store so that I could get an idea which one would suit me best and every one of them was pretty amazing to be honest.nnBut in the end I had to go with this stunning Private Stock Maple OM Hybrid, an absolutely amazing guitar full stop!nnNot just a beauty to look at but the sound is every bit as good as the beautiful woods that were used on this model.nnNot only does it have jaw-dropping flame maple back and sides, mine even has flame in the mahogany neck. I mean it’s just unbelievable.nnI had enough money put away for any high quality acoustic, Martin, Gibson, etc…. but this Boucher was hands down the best acoustic that I’ve ever played in my 45+ years playing guitar.nnThe playability is excellent and the rich tone is really something, if you try one you’ll see what I mean.nnIt also came with a high-quality hardshell case to keep it safe.nnRobin and Guillaume and the whole Boucher team are super dedicated in building the best acoustic guitars out there bar-none.nnI highly recommend Boucher, try one and I can guarantee that you won’t be disappointed.nnCharles Arsenault,nMoncton, NB
Boucher guitars are extraordinary on all accounts, tonal depth, dynamics, timbre, build quality, aesthetics, playability, dynamics, wood selection, responsiveness, and overall joy of playing. My connection with Boucher guitars began in 2018, not having heard of the company. I was comparing some Santa Cruz’s, Goodall, Bourgeois, Collings, Preston Thompsons, and Pre-Wars at Soundpure in Durham. After a few strums on a Boucher Heritage Goose SG-51 12-FTB that happened to be right next to a Collings OM, I was hooked and went home with my first Boucher. The Boucher out-played all the other guitars in the showroom. The 12-FTB had such a high volume ceiling for a smaller-sized instrument. It like the guitar was just begging to be played, and the deeper it was strummed, the more it responded. From having played guitar for over 30 years mainly for fun, challenge, creativity, and occasional gigs, that first experience was life changing. Since then I’ve been fortunate enough to play about 30 different Bouchers, and my 5th is on order. The BG-151-M is my best fit, it's a life-changing instrument. The traits I’m most drawn to are dynamic responsiveness, timbre, incredible sound, ease of playing, and over joy & inspiration. Bouchers are so masterfully built that the tonal properties of the back and side woods are really apparent and noticeable, especially when the guitars are played side-by-side. The Adirondack tops are the best you can get on any instrument, and apparently Robin tap-tones around 20,000 tops per year. When played on their own, Bouchers sound great, but I’ve noticed that they really shine when played in comparison with other hand-made guitars in person. Their playability and craftsmanship is outstanding. You can easily find yourself submerged and mesmerized in the beautiful tone of Boucher guitars. I’m continually inspired to play my best, create ideas for songs, and enjoy the feeling of playing a Stradivarius guitar. They are an absolute joy to own and play!
The team at Boucher Guitars is truly exceptional. This can be seen through their work, they take pride in their work, and every detail is absolutely perfect. There’s a reason why these guitars sell quickly once a dealer has them in stock. My guitar is an SG-52-M. The color of the Master grade Adirondack top and the East Indian Rosewood back and sides are simply stunning. The stain on the mahogany seamlessly blends with the Rosewood back and brings the entirety of the guitar together. The only thing better than its looks is the sound. Truly an inspiring instrument to play. You won’t find this quality and sound for a better price. This guitar will be with me for life.
I have been on the hunt for a high end acoustic guitar for like 5 years now. I've connected with a few martins and Taylor's, but never enough to drop the money on them. I hadn't heard of Boucher guitars until about a week ago. I stumbled on a guy selling them and got to try several different models of the OM studio gooses, and a bluegrass goose dreadnaught, and a couple models of the heritage goose 000s. I ended up buying a SG-41-G. I have never connected so well with a guitar. I really appreciate that these guitars aren't flashy. Just exceedingly playable and beautiful sounding guitars. Do yourself a favor and find somewhere to play one. And then buy it.
