It was my first time ordering from here; And what a pleasant treat! The curly fries were crispy and delicious. The fried chicken burger was a bit on the drier side but was enjoyable with the dipping sauce I had got initially got for the fries. Will be returning in the near future:
My wife and I were staying in Port Angeles and took the ferry over to Victoria. We had breakfast at another spot and they actually recommended Leopold's since I was looking for poutine. They didn't disappoint. They had a large draught beer selection and the food was delightful. I came to Canada looking for poutine and am grateful Leopold's was the spot recommended to me.
Awesome sauce! Worth checking out. Good vibes, good beer selection and great food. You won’t be disappointed. Tell them Josh sent you.
Had the smaller sized Montreal Smoked Meat- I normally wouldn't have chosen the spot because it's in downtown just parking, potentially traffic just deters me usually, but my lovely friends decided to surprise me with a pub/dine crawl on my birthday weekend! It was a rainy Sunday, so unsurprisingly, it wasn't so busy we arrived around 6pm? According to my friends Leopolds is usually busy, so spotting most of the tables were convenient for is. My highlights: Nice location close to other restaurants and pubs, good to drop by and easily go to another place Food came out reasonable for time although it wasn't too busy Food came out hot Attentive service Menu items that I need to come back for $68 punch bowl poutine?! A great variety of plant-based options to try The poutine I tried was really good- my friends shared a regular-sized dill pickle poutine, and I heard it was delicious! The mustard on my poutine gave a pleasant zing with the gravy. Maybe one little critic I will comment on is the amount of smoked meat on the poutine, but I *did* order the small. Great place for me to try, I'd like to come back again and maybe try the plant-based options like the wings. The price was reasonable, the washrooms are fine, the seats are comfy I sat in the booth, and not too close to other patrons. Regularly I've heard it's busy, so please take note and maybe expect a line up on weekends!
Best chicken burger!! Awesome cheap fizz. I liked the ambience very much and the service!! Will be back:
The perfect Victoria bar! Not quite as seedy as Big Bad John’s, but equally as fun. The picture windows and patio keep things fresh but don’t detract from the classic, cozy dive-bar feel. Great music, ambiance reminiscent of Steamers 20 years ago. A full pub-style menu gets bonus marks for having a plant-based section including nachos and beyond meats. The cocktails and beer list is grade A and right now features a limited release collaboration beer with Whistle Buoy that is something else.
Man, I love the bar, I love the people, but seriously corporate needs to smarten up with the pricing. $6.50 isn't a happy hour beer price anywhere else, and the burgers with McDonald's fries are absolutely not worth the $21-$22 they charge. Victoria loves a bar that's there for the people, not to line the owners pockets. Seriously, the pricing has almost killed off my interest of going there.
A great place to have some snacks and beers with friends/coworkers after work. I had the dill pickle fish and chips! The flavor was there but the batter on the fish was very crunchy and hard in some spots. I will give it another try though. Anything dill pickle always deserves another shot haha.
I friggin love this place, I don't quite like in town but Leo's is probably the place I go to most when I'm downtown and am hungry. Plus their features are always absurdly amazing! It's nice having a pub dedicate so much effort to different poutine styles. I've never been disappointed; Leopold's aims to please. It's like a dive bar, low-lit with strings of lights all over, stuff covering the walls from top to bottom, but the people they have in the kitchen -truly- know what they are doing and love every second of of it. You can taste it in the food. Don't believe? Go see for yourself!
The poutine you was incredible. Perhaps the best I've had on Vancouver Island. However the service was apathetic and general vibe completely uninspired and generic. Putting a lot of stuff on their walls is the only attempt made at having a personality and real style. Steamers, it's predecessor, was 100 times better.
